Having problems with the link, but if you go to yesterday (13th June) Politics Live and got to Pages 5 and 6. Text of the amendment is reproduced word for word. Take by number of MPs also given. Admittedly they are remain MPs the ones quoted, but that doesn't mean their powers of analysis are not reasonable enough to work out what the amendment effectively means. You can also draw your own conclusion on the implications of the legal text. Basically says the govt must not compromise the GFA, have due regard for clause 49 in the phase 1 agreement and the act will not authorise any kind of border infrastructure. Edited by CambridgeEagle (14 Jun 2018 10.24am) Edited by CambridgeEagle (14 Jun 2018 10.26am) Given that you have provided a very tenuous link, giving Remainer MP’s views, and there is no other reference to your ‘position’ on the internet, please allow me to take your ‘position’ with the pinch of salt it deserves. Remember, interpretations are like arseholes, everyone has one.

I'm struggling to see how we won't get BINO given the Irish border issue. It also allows May to push the train wreck gradually further and further towards soft Brexit where we effectively, or even actually, stay in the CU and SM indefinitely. UK may be able to use the Irish Border issue to gain a concession of free movement and end up pretty much where Cameron tried to get us pre-referendum. This issue just highlights the massive level of uncertainty and lack of UK policy on this 2 years (!) after we voted to leave. Nicely put, now that you mention it I think that may be the end game. So Cameron will finally get the deal he wanted oh and sod the 17 million who didn't vote for that.

I'm half serious, seeing as Theresa May is so useless. She sure is. But that almost illiterate thick f*** knuckle isn’t the answer to anything. He’s buddying up to murderous despots now and claiming it to be a good thing. What a complete moron.

Every US president has buddied up with dictators. It's a high risk tactic in this instance with NoKo and time will tell if he pulls it off. Odds are stacked against him though...

Who else before trump? Nixon and Chairman Mao, Nixon and Brezhnev. Trump is playing a high risk strategy with the North Koreans who have a history of going back on their word. They took financial aid from Clinton and promptly reneged on their part of the deal. However as Churchill said jaw jaw is better than war war. I don't like Trump but if this makes the world a safer place why not?
