One of the dangers of what the club did this year is that many Managers will look at the investment pattern and the trigger finger and will be put off. I cant imagine Postecoglou for instance would come to us. He's turned Celtic around in a short space of time, he's won in Japan with a team thats not the best resourced, he's won in Australia with my local team that has been rubbish since what he built left and with Australia he won our only trophy in the Asian Cup. He would want a club that backed him and where he got a long term to turn it around.

Regarding Potter, I'm not remotely convinced by him. Combined with the absolute hilarity that would be met by his eventual inevitable departure by our friends down the road it's a huge NO from me. I've always been impressed by Brendan Rogers/Rodgers and would be happy if he were appointed. Having said that, there are very few managers around who keep us fans happy for more than a couple of years!

My preference would be Arne Slot. He has got average players to play beyond what could be expected of them in his last two appointments. I know people will say he has no prem experience and we have been burned with the like of FdB and Viera. But he comes with a better track record AND a lot more experience than those two. Ten Hag has come and really done well at Manure, which to be honest has been a mess.

I suspect he is not interested in taking on a challenge at our club.

Ask any Leicester fan about Rodgers and his last two years at the club. Probably thumb down from 99% of them, please NO to him taking over from Roy.

Personally I think he's done a decent job although this season they have under performed in the League, especially given their spending last summer.

Brendan Rodgers has been manager of Liverpool. I suspect he is not interested in taking on a challenge at our club. I like Moyes and previously would have quickly endorsed his arrival at Palace however I feel as though this team is not built for him and this is where it went wrong at WHU too. He likes a bit more physicality and 'old skool' football whereas we have a lot of youngsters with unique technical ability and flair. Having said that Hodgson seems able to get a tune out of them but I would be sceptical of Moyes' ability to mould this team into that which would suit them (and not him). Rodgers is also a 'no' from me. Again only really one blokes' opinion but I find him off-putting and as we saw with PV, when that connection with the players and with the fans/club is missing it can all turn quite sour, quite quickly. I feel as though this teams needs an identity and tactical strategy suited to the players as oppose to just the manager's 'style'. Also, given the youth, I think an arm round the shoulder and mentor-ish type approach is probably needed. I'm not completely sold on Rodgers or Moyes for either of these, but could well be wrong.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I honestly can't see why we're discussing a new manager. To not offer Roy a one-year contract would be looking a gift-horse in the mouth. The bottom line is we're playing good football, getting results, the manager's happy, the chairman's happy, most importantly all the players have smiles on their faces, and there's not exactly a clear and obvious perfect choice in the wings waiting to take over. Keep Roy for another year and announce it now; everything and everyone settles down and focuses on next season, and maybe Paddy can be groomed as Roy's long-term successor, a call that doesn't have to be made now but if appropriate, might be an attractive solution further down the road. It ain't broken so stop thinking about fixing it. Because we all wanted Roy gone before. He was a band aid solution this season. But one that has gone better than expected. We need to think long term, and if we could attract a manager like Rodgers this summer, then why wouldn't we think about it. The 'aint broke don't fix it' mentally isn't really one that I want us to employ, we need to strive and push. And if that means making some hard decisions then so be it.
