And still no answer as to the required outcome. “Everyone being kinder to each other” is a nice hippie idea but it isn’t going to happen because footballers kneel down for five seconds. Not the point is it? It's their gesture, not ours. All we need to is respect it. Just as we should respect all sincere, peaceful gestures of support for the oppressed. It's hurting no-one to do so.

Thanks for the laugh. I spent 4 hours in active sport yesterday, another hour walking my dog and 2 hours shifting 2 tonnes of logs in a wheelbarrow in the rain. Not bad for someone with nothing to do other than spend my life anywhere but here! Today I am trying to catch up with the tax returns, which are so tedious a little break to get a smile or two from you lot is always worthwhile. It's just reassuring to know that no matter how bad my day might be that on Hol you can always find someone who is having a worse one just by being them. The recent posts being cases in point. So thanks guys. Oh by the way, I'm off to the pub tonight. Nice meal with good company. We are still in Tier 1, even though the local cases are rising sharply and we don't anticipate it lasting much longer. How's your own social life?
Kids away tonight, just me, the Mrs, a bottle of vodka and some viagra. You enjoy your meal

Well, yes, I think it is the point otherwise it’s an empty gesture. What is it they want everyone else to do to improve what you call oppression?

Does your wife know about the rabid obsession you display here for anything that could pass as a female? Such posts don't come over like a 4-year-old, for they are far too innocent for such thoughts. It's much more like those of a 14-year-old who has managed to get hold of an old copy of Playboy, which is now getting increasingly stained.

Ah, here comes TweedleDum. I am surprised it took so long. The point is that footballers can do what they want within reason. They almost all seem to agree with taking the knee or making some other relevant gesture. They do that as they see inequality in life, whatever background they come from or colour of skin, and wish to be a part of the solution Inequality? There is always inequality in a meritocracy. It is just a meaningless buzz word. There is also a degree of prejudice in everything. The only way to get change is to campaign for something specific. Women got the vote and they campaigned specifically for that end. What specifically do Black people want? It seems to me that they want more than the rest of us are afforded in a country where they are a small minority.

Kane makes the same point I have repeatedly tried to explain. That this isn't aimed at the local fans but at the worldwide TV audience. The way some people here go on would lead you to conclude they were all living in the past when English football was just an English obsession. This thread ought never to have got beyond one page. A simple condemnation of anyone booing a sincere and well-merited gesture was all that was ever justified. That article also says kneeling is in support of the BLM movement which you have repeatedly denied.

Closer to home for me, you are more likely to be the recipient of a hate crime if you are Jewish than black. Anti-semitism is on the rise in many countries, France in particular where many Jews (often old people) Have been murdered in recent years. I don’t see anyone wanting to protest or take a knee for this. Why? Because it seems that blacks have the monopoly on playing victims. The irony in all this is that until you empower yourself you will always be a victim.

They don't know whether to kneel and raise a fist or start wailing at a wall. Edited by Stirlingsays (18 Dec 2020 3.57pm)

May I suggest, as I have suggested many times, that you discuss this with your black friends to find out how they think and what it is like to walk a mile in their shoes.

Had you attended a BLM rally you would have heard speakers specifically address anti-semitism and how BLM is intended to raise all issues of race and is supportive of any minority that suffers from unfair discrimination Oops, sorry, I interrupted your rant with a fact.
