I haven’t made any assumptions about your personal position at all, I was responding to where you had literally defended Dominic Cummings plan and said someone was wrong for stating our hospitals would be overwhelmed if we had followed the governments initial model. All the information I provided was from the initial model they were using, they switched up their position when they realised the death rate was much higher than the pulmonary influenza which they had initially based the model on. Your position is obviously more nuanced, although I would say if the British public are struggling to do social distancing of 2m I don’t have much hope in them changing generations of cultural habits to those similar to the Japanese in a matter of days. It looks as the America will be following the ‘Let’s not let the cure be worse than the disease’ line, so when the dust settles we will see what the best strategy was, that’s assuming Trump doesn’t climb down as a result of pressure himself, As for the first sentence, don’t get puritanical on me now when your laughing about paedo jokes above. Which might I add is a very funny joke. 16 is the new paedo now? I'd rather we stick to wildly inappropriate and just wrong. Anyway, I wasn't aware that Cummins had a 'plan' as such but I certainly now can be placed in the 'cure is worst than the disease' camp when it comes to a prolonged economic lockdown. As for the nips.....I would certainly would have gone for copying their approaches and issuing that as national requirements.....sanitizers at shop and establishment doors, national adverts for social distancing and hygiene practices. I suspect this lockdown will end before April is over....as it's not practically sustainable and when the hindsight book comes to be written.....I doubt that those like me will be on the wrong end of it.

Obviously what Andrew did....and I think he did it....was pretty bad. Still, I'm not one who thinks he's a paedo.....But hey he could be...at the end of the day he involved himself in a sex procurement ring involving young girls. So the guy is completely compromised....He must have known it was dodgy.

Yep....but I will add that a guy in his thirties or late twenties shagging a 16 year old is taking the p1ss and fully deserves a punch in the chops from her old man. The thing we have to worry about is vulnerable girls.....the 80 IQs or mentally badly damaged getting exploited. They need someone looking out for them who isn't in their pants and gives a sh1t. But as a general rule 16 works in most circumstances. Edited by Stirlingsays (25 Mar 2020 8.46pm)

I just assumed the same had been posted without reading it properly,

Tux, I don't think going back to the gold standard....while a valid economic discussion point....It's not going to address what happens over the next coming months. What's your take on what the government should be doing with this? My honest answer is that i don't care or worry too much regarding things that i can't change, what will be will be. Look at the facts regarding the current germ and act how you feel appropriate i guess. As for reverting back to a Gold Standard, it was coming away from a solid monetary base in 1971 (the US was in effect bankrupt) that has led us to where we are now, 'fiat currency' and the continued debt that we all pay through the inherent inflation. Maybe i just got lucky.
