I think the difference where others are concerned and you're excited comes from the difference in belief of what the club can acquire.

Taking your list -

Eze - 15m
Ferguson - 5m but can I just add we had a budget in Jan of 12m for him so I see this as 6m saved from the Jan budget and therefore he’s free in terms of the summer budget
Young CM - 8m
Young CB - 8m
Striker - 10m - 20m
Fraser signing on fee etc. - 3m

A lower cost estimate on all of them, which likely means the reality is higher, is still a net transfer fee spend of ~£50-60m.

I'd say most on here reckon we're capped at probably the £30m-35m range?

Personally, my big worry is the squad's performance deteriorated when they had to play back to back, and this season is going to be more back to back than ever. This season will require depth and on that metric, we look weak. I agree with you that we probably need to sign 4-5 players more than we lose. I'm nervous on our ability to achieve it.

I was thinking more like this...

Eze - 15m
Ferguson - 5m
Young CM - 1m
Young CB - 1m
Striker - 10m - 20m
Fraser - free

I wasn’t talking about youth that goes straight into the first team. I said youth that can spend time learning from all the exp pros we currently have. Players for the future but could make up numbers when needed.

The list above could be purchased just from selling Zaha. If that were the case I’d hope to see another attacker coming in also.

Absolutely !
Signed him from Northampton and sold him to Watford.

The arch typical No.9 who bulldozed his way to goal.
Mention of him makes me want to pick my all time greatest Palace team which must include John Jackson the greatest and bravest keeper I ever saw ...

Good old "Stonewall" !
I had the pleasure of sitting next to him in the Directors Box at Selhurst Park many years ago.

Not forgetting Cliff Holton, who new where the back of the net was !!

My favourite Palace player. Without him and "Dickie" Dowsett we would as like as not have ended up in Division Four instead of being promoted to Div 2.

Anyway, enough of past glories.

Holton,Burridge,Burnside,Woods and Kellard were all at the club in the early to mid-60s.
Kellard returned for a second spell in the early 70s by which time the others had departed.

So we now know that Willo can use the Holmesdale Players Database.
Can we keep this to transfers now?

With the greatest of respect I had never heard of it before you mentioned this facility.

I have been a supporter since the 60s, accordingly I have a recollection of players who ploughed their furrows in those times.

Transfers, what transfers? There would be nothing to discuss until the day of the 5 October. Waiting to see who West Ham pip us to in the last couple of hours.

Perhaps i'm unfair, there is a chance we'll pick up a freebie 30+ year old before hand.

Who? Actually, just stop it you're getting my hopes up.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
