The only "wondering" I did was why. Man is asked "do you know how to get round the third-party ownership rules" and, when he says he does, is offered a job. He replies "I'd need to talk to the FA first about it". It seemed a total over-reaction by the FA to me, but it did do us a right favour. I wondered whether his biggest sin was not the revelation that he knew how to get past the third party ownership rules but his reference to the previous manager as Woy. Irrelevant to the thread which seems to have diverted as Mr Shave makes up the rules on respect to suit himself

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Dougie Freedman' by Guntrisoft No. And not just because of the manner in which he left us, I've forgiven him that and he's restored to being a club legend for me. Stockport anyone? For me it's the lack of achievement since moving on from us, sacked from Bolton and sacked from Forest, as such he's done nothing to make him one of the first names to pop up for managerial vacancies either at Palace or any other club. Dougie needs to start again in the Leagues 1 or 2 and work his way up.
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

I think the whole premier league experience talk is overplayed. I want a manager who will commit to the club for the medium term. We're an attractive proposition these days and SP has shown himself to be a chairman who backs his managers in the transfer market and supports them when times get a little tough (arguably too much so with AP). I'd like to see Jokanovic get it. Failing that give Hoddle a chance to resurrect his managerial career. Monk did a good job at Swansea (up until they sold the top scorer) and lets face it Leeds were a bit of a joke before he turned them around on peanuts - you can make a case for him depending on how charitable your feeling. Managers and commitment, or lack of it. We could fill a book with the stories of how many times we've been dumped.

Need a stronger personality than Monk, looks to me like Monk is the cheap option. You think we might have reverted to shopping at Aldi again? Let's see who we finally get in and then we'll know for sure.

'Director of football', Les Reed, has a dossier on coaches in Europe and Puel went through a rigorous interview process having to attend three interviews. Now there is talk of Puel being ditched after one season, a season in which Southampton have finished a very creditable 8th.
