Where did it all start. i think the late 50's when MacMillan was rebuffed by the French. What does it compare to in history. I think 'The Hundred Years War'. So that would bring us to 2058 approx.

We'll just line up at the back of the queue. Corbyn's position is not particularly relevant when it comes to the GOVERNMENT's white paper seeing as he's not in government. His stance, if anything, should help them on this matter. Their incompetence is all of their own making. Your preferred option doesn't address the NI issue. How would you address this out of interest? Nice deflection on Corbyn’s position. Like it. Suggests that you know that he has no idea on how to deal with Brexit. My preferred position on Ireland is that the EU works with us to try and find an acceptable solution rather than trying to scupper Brexit through putting up blockers on very option provided by the government. The EU is playing with lives by doing this and reinforces my view that the EUSSR is noth8ng more than a political bloc supported by bullies whom reject democracy at every turn. Greece. Brexit. Catalonia. Italy. All examples of EUSSR intransigence.

Helps buy him time, but also should help the government come up with a plan given there is no real opposition to their plans. They still can't publish their white paper and their latest backstop is like a Cornish Fudge Shop (full of fudges). EU has proposed a solution. A fully workable one. They also have a ready made solution which we're now opting out of (the EU). It's not their problem to solve. Ireland is a mess of our own making. Why should they invest time and effort in proposals that have been describes as "crazy" by the foreign secretary, or which are ludicrously expensive and virtually unworkable?

EU already pointing out that a time limited backstop is not a backstop. So DD shown up to have a worse understanding of the meaning of an English word than a bunch of foreigners. Cold water very much poured on this governments latest worthless piece of paper mere hours after its publication. Piss-up and brewery come to mind.

If they did leave who would they be leaving Brexit to? From what I'm seeing it's not being delivered. The country voted to leave and they are amongst the few politicians in that place who actually want it. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Jun 2018 4.26pm)

Power, once given, isn't taken back easily. We are learning this lesson rather painfully at the moment. Edited by Stirlingsays (09 Jun 2018 5.45pm)

This is exactly the belligerent attitude that the EU and Remainers have adopted since June 23. This is an issue that the EU needs to assist with because he EU must respect democracy. If not, butt out and let us sort his out only with the Republic of Ireland. The EU did diddly squat to assist with peace in Ireland and I am sure that the Irish government is wlling to do a sensible deal with their largest trading partner. If it doesn’t, it is f***ed and it’s getting that way. It’s anti democratic actions in Greece, Ireland and Italy are producing the reflex of anti-EU sentiment. If the EU wants to be a partner of the UK, great. If not, f*** off and we will happily subscribe to a no deal situation. Edited by matt_himself (09 Jun 2018 7.21pm)
