I am actually starting to feel sorry for him. I doubt he has much life apart from HOL, otherwise he wouldn’t spend his whole life on here. Thanks for the laugh. I spent 4 hours in active sport yesterday, another hour walking my dog and 2 hours shifting 2 tonnes of logs in a wheelbarrow in the rain. Not bad for someone with nothing to do other than spend my life anywhere but here! Today I am trying to catch up with the tax returns, which are so tedious a little break to get a smile or two from you lot is always worthwhile. It's just reassuring to know that no matter how bad my day might be that on Hol you can always find someone who is having a worse one just by being them. The recent posts being cases in point. So thanks guys. Oh by the way, I'm off to the pub tonight. Nice meal with good company. We are still in Tier 1, even though the local cases are rising sharply and we don't anticipate it lasting much longer. How's your own social life?

Biden's won, the evil racist has gone, Biden can get rid of all the racists in the police. In the UK, the police are largely defunded, people of all colours usually go about petty crime unhindered. Black football players are just one of any number of people, who although totally unqualified in any way, have said their piece. Every minor celebrity and every Guardian journalist have given their opinions. Some people haven't agreed, no one wants to listen to them. Obviously right wing. Considering this, there is no need to continue to 'take a knee'. Let's just get back to football, if at all possible. There are no reasons to continue, as far as I can tell. Perhaps someone can tell me what exactly will end this.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

With regards to the discussion on the gesture, this should end this thread IMO [Link] for specific reference to the gesture too Kane makes the same point I have repeatedly tried to explain. That this isn't aimed at the local fans but at the worldwide TV audience. The way some people here go on would lead you to conclude they were all living in the past when English football was just an English obsession. This thread ought never to have got beyond one page. A simple condemnation of anyone booing a sincere and well-merited gesture was all that was ever justified.

Well done. You have found my Achilles heal again! Did it make you feel better? Actually, there was only one but we won't get picky. Never mind. It’ll soon heel up.

Bending down on one knee for a few seconds achieves nothing. If you ask them who the new black LBC presenter is, how she got into the broadcaster and what she’s been talking about for 6 months none of these footballers would know. You probably don’t either. Violent black on black violent crime you mean? A start of a lot of the problems nobody is allowed to or wants to risk their reputation or career addressing? Edited by Rudi Hedman (18 Dec 2020 12.25pm) It is NOT intended to directly address anything happening in the UK. Are you so wrapped up in your little England obsession that you cannot actually see that the players have a wider vision than that? And some here describe the footballers as thick!

And still no answer as to the required outcome. “Everyone being kinder to each other” is a nice hippie idea but it isn’t going to happen because footballers kneel down for five seconds.

It's the English Premier League. Do they then need to comment on global issues? This is getting silly. How about, for instance, they concentrate on the match?

Ah, here comes TweedleDum. I am surprised it took so long. The point is that footballers can do what they want within reason. They almost all seem to agree with taking the knee or making some other relevant gesture. They do that as they see inequality in life, whatever background they come from or colour of skin, and wish to be a part of the solution You may not see what they see. Apparently that makes them thick and also subject to other people screwing their wives. An interesting leap in logic What have they got to say about the inequality of taking home several years’ of most people’s salary in a week for playing a game?
