Alan Shearer is on £390,000 - the same amount as Vanessa Feltz. I know who she is but not what she does; surely she couldn’t be less interesting when being probed by Mr. Lineker.

I don't blame them, if he BBC is stupid enough to throw money at an ex footballer who merely presents a show then why would he not take it. MOTD relies on the quality and entertainment of the football for their viewers not the studio talking heads. I have never heard anyone say "I can't wait to see the Gary Lineker show tonight".

As for Zoe Ball i thought her viewing figures fell compared to the previous incumbent but I might be wrong on that.

As I said I am not criticising the presenters but the BBC, aalaries should be based on viewing figures and additional revenue. Clarkson earned the BBC £50m per annum so he was entitled to a slice of that. Any actor could introduce MOTD, Gary is the neutral chairman the pundits do the football stuff and pundits are 10 a penny.
