Clearly we do have first team squad/players who are poor quality and would probably struggle in the championship. However we have to be pragmatic as we need PL revenue therefore Roy's tactics are limited by the talent he has to work with, most of the cards he has had dealt are not of his own choosing. Grinding out results is not very attractive but a necessary evil if we are to maintain our PL status. Player wages are agreed by SP who has been largely if not completely responsible for the current first team squad. If we played Pardew type football with the players we have we would soon be back in the championship and I for one would not be happy with that!

Financially, we have a massive problem as most of our income apparently goes on wages (I haven't actually seen the accounts just reading the comments on here). Unlike bigger clubs with larger ground capacities we are limited as to additional sources of major income. As someone previously said we need owners with big pockets who will inject the type of cash needed not only to sustain us in the PL but get up the table and for once have ambitions other than to avoid relegation.
It is clear that we will have to sell to better the finances or get the Yanks to fund it which, doesn't seem likely. In selling, we also need to be astute in our purchasing, other clubs have done it and we can.
We must eradicate out negative playing style at home or we will lose players (who wants to play like that every other week?); players will not want to join us and finally supporters will vote with their feet on buying season tickets....there's so much c--p you can stomach.
Challenging times ahead but hey this is Palace!

If what I have been hearing over the past few weeks is true, then we will be looking for another new manager come the end of the season. I have heard that Hodgson plans to retire at the end of the season and from what I have been told this has been known for sometime and as yet there is no firm replacement lined up.

If this turns out to be true, then this could mean another season of uncertainty both in the back room and players.

Oh well, thats part of the fun with supporting this wonderful club and if this does happen then I for one would like to thank Roy for his work and wish whoever comes in all the best.

If they've known for some time it would be daft to have not acted behind the scenes before Mr Hodgson's last game, surely they would've done somethi......

These are all valid points, the financial viability of the club is vital and that is why it would be foolish to risk our PL status, which comes along with massive income. The problems we have and have had for sometime now, is with the person responsible for the overall running of the club. The so called invisible Americans were inflicted on us by SP, they have made little if any contribution to the clubs progression in the PL. SP has been overall responsible for our generally poor dealing in the transfer market and of course he is responsible for the massive wages that we seem to be paying players with exceptions, who have limited ability to play in the PL. We have little or no transfer strategy, we generally do deals at the last minute of the transfer window, when rushed decision often turnout to be bad decisions. The future can be positive for this little club but we do need new direction and whilst SP is still there I cannot see where that is going to come from.

So what. You don’t get less points for winning away. Luckily Roy and players seem to see that as well.
