Roy has done well enough to be in the frame.

But depends on if we think/he himself has the stamina for another season (_he might not want it)

It also depends on if we want single year 'fix' or if we should be looking to find a long term manager,

If we have the option to get a good calibre manager this summer (that ordinarily might not be around). Say Rogers/Potter - both highly rated, both like a project, both have had issues this season so may be gettable

In his last season with us he looked tired and short on ideas and was slow to respond in games. I saw the same at Watford last season. This isn't about his age, it's about whether he has the energy. I'm not convinced he has and my concern is we could end up seeing him looking a bit lost again, rather than going out as a hero at the end of this season. Ray on the other hand looks ready for a cameo in Baywatch.

given the noises Rogers kept on making about lack of investment, I can't see him wanting to come in here. I'm not saying we don't invest, as we clearly do, but I don't think it's to the levels someone like Rogers expects. Or you know it would be his first excuse when things start going sour, and he was always heading for the exit once he started butting heads with the Leicester hierarchy

He appears relaxed and full of vim and vigour.
He has more bounce than a Baywatch beach sprint.

I often think Ray prefers playing second fiddle rather than being in the limelight as the nominated manager/head coach.

Has anyone ever heard him express a view on this because, if he has, I am not aware of it?

Roy's been a revelation this season - which I didn't see coming, but happy to be wrong.
But he is a safety net - We know what were getting.
He'll keep us mid table; we beat the lower teams, and never look like beating the top tables clubs. When going gets tough he'll go defensive with predetermined subs at 60-70 mins.

If that's what you want fine, keep him next year, and I'll be happy.
What I find really hard to believe is that there is no manager out there that can't take this team and move us on, if only for a bit of excitement or hope. It's just about finding them.

Roy, in my opinion, has done enough to be offered a new contract. Whether he wants another season is another question (my hunch is that he does).

However, I don't think it's the right call. We're just deferring the problem for 12 months and we need a long term strategy. You would hope the club have already drawn up a shortlist of candidates to be interviewed.

We have a rare luxury position of 4 more games with pressure off with the managers contract about to end. We have time to make a sensible decision to find the right man. Get him in early to take over a full and positive pre-season.

I remember how poor our preseason prep was this year with half the squad in Timbuctoo the other half back home. Arsenal slaughtered us in the first game.

Graham Potter would be my first choice. I'd be worried with the Celtic manager - see Steven Gerrard. It's a Micky Mouse league up there.

There has been 'Noise' about David Moyes departing W.Ham.
Perhaps with his PL experience he will be viewed favourably by the hierarchy.

Not by me Willo!

When privately I expressed sentiments equating to my post, I was met with gasps of horror !

I did assert that in the previous 2 seasons, W.Ham finished in 6th and 7th place and last season reached the semi-final of the Europa League but my comments did not sway any minds !

You are not alone Willo. We have to remember we are unlikely to be on the list of any of the top managers. We, therefore, need to consider those at the level below who have shown that they can deliver competency in the PL over more than a few games. Moyes fills that criterion as do both Rodgers (NOT ROGERS)* and Potter.

I like Potter but I'm not sure our DNA fits the style he wants to play. As I've said elsewhere, I wouldn't say 'no' to either of the other two.

* Not for your benefit. Willo but for any who might read this post and can't get Don Rogers out of their minds.
