I wonder when I’ll see the first ‘Zaha’ on the back of shirt here? That will definitely be a little weird.

A tear jerker.

I want to be a little cold with his departure but it is very hard. I was actually in the Lower Holmesdale when he made his debut at Selhurst and watched his last from the Glazier’s Lounge. I had no idea who he was when he first came on but the rest is history.

Stay safe Wilf and best of luck.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hard to believe he didn't make it to 100 goals.

In fairness, he could have never returned from United and he'd have gone down as an icon for that brace at Br*ghton. In the years after that, he's at times single handedly kept us up and for that he'll be fondly remembered. 3rd on the all time appearances list, one more season and he'd have made 2nd.

Best tribute the club can do is to actually build on it and not f*** it up through inactivity over the next few weeks.

Hopefully Wilf will manage to get that CL night he so clearly craves and manage a goal at the Nou Camp or similar.

As long as he remains healthy, he will be one of the top players in the entire country. Every time he touches the ball, there'll be a roar of anticipation greater than what he has heard here in years. Little kids will be imitating him in the streets. Premium pay or not (perhaps not), that's pretty heady stuff.

The downside will arrive if he becomes targeted by opponents on the field and by fans in the stands. THAT could get ugly. But I completely understand that in the autumn of his career, a fresh start is hard to resist.

I hope it works out for him and I will be delighted to see him get to lift a trophy.

On the plus side, we did manage to get Lerma with the proceeds from Wilf’s transfer.

And some to spare given the likely difference in wages!

Although a move for Wilf has been on the cards for several seasons, it does feel a bit strange to think he is no longer a Palace player.

Overall he has been fantastic for us. I admit I have had my odd moan about him and some of his antics, but, I was always reassured when I saw his name on the team sheet and knowing that he could always bring something special to the game.

I wish Wilf all the best for his new venture, and I hope he will be happy in his new surroundings. He deserves a chance to try pastures anew and I hope he stays fit and healthy to see out the rest of his footballing career.

I know I'm a horrible person, but I've no more time or energy to expend on Wilf (he said, posting about Wilf!). He was great for us and he gave us some brilliant times, including many moments beyond our wildest dreams, but he's now gone. He was, of course, "gone" when he last limped off the field in our colours.

He now plays for another club so he's irrelevant to me. I always feel like this about players who go; thanks for what you did for us, good luck, but don't expect a Christmas card from me.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I agree to an extent. It was pretty obvious a few years ago that he would see out his contract and then seek a new challenge.

I am a bit surprised a top 6 English club hasn't tried to sign him as a free - Newcastle being the obvious one now they are in the Champions League and have just spent nearly £40m on a left winger - but he has clearly chosen a club that will play to his strengths, give him a chance of silverware and give him Champions League exposure.

He is clearly being well paid but could have got more elsewhere if money was his motivation.

My concern is we've had a few years to adjust to this day and yet here we are with no left wingers in our squad and only 2 (average) strikers in the squad
