I don’t care what the fee is. If QPR reject what Palace think is the correct price then we move on. Let other teams spend stupid money on unproven players...and that’s if other clubs are even serious about signing him.

Tell me why do some of you assume that Palace have to hurry a deal through before a bigger side comes in? If so many other teams want him, then why haven’t they signed him? Why haven’t we heard of any other team making a single bid?

Some of you act as though these players are not on the radar of other teams early doors and that’s our only chance to sign them. LOL

It’s a fair point. Not really a case of ‘get in there quick before anyone else notices this player is good’. Scouting is usually a bit more sophisticated than that.

I think the biggest mistakes we’ve made in the transfer market are buying foreign players that don’t fit into our team well (Meyer, Jairo, Sorloth). They might seem exciting at the time but generally the more boring steady cast offs from other prem teams get the job done.

Benteke and Sakho are oft quoted but Sakho has never let anyone down and Benteke went s*** for no apparent reason. Difficult to foresee that one happening.

Covid has really hit football clubs' finances hard.

Has it though. Smaller clubs like us make up most of their income from Sky which won't change. If anything it was our slide down the table that cost us dearly at an estimated million pounds per place

I was being humorous and you are entitled to believe whomever you want but let’s remember that dazza has been saying for 2 weeks that eze will be announced by the end of said week alas nothing has come of it ......oh well

Then please accept my apologies. Unfortunately my sense of humour seems to disappear during every transfer window!

Not your conventional number 10 of course ...

And Jimmy Mac, involved in so many goals the past few years. Can beat players, link up play, cross and score. I reckon Jairo could be moulded into an excellent ACM too.

Matt Woosnam has posted an article in The Athletic today indicating that we have 14 players out of contract next summer.
I hadn’t realised it was that many.
We are likely to extend some , as rumoured with Mcarthur for example, but that still leaves a lot of matters to resolve.
To avoid too much of an upheaval next summer I would have thought we should be looking to bring in at least 3 or 4 players in the summer with perhaps another 1 or 2 in January.
If we don’t address this we could be a position where we just offer one year extensions to some of those out of contract to fill the squad, which again is surely just a way of deferring decisions and this does not smack of proactive management.

Just seen this. I believe we have an option of further1 year with Guiata but the rest.... nothing in the way of incoming transfer fees, poor planning. I suppose the wage bill will go down!!

Normally I would be concerned but this may work in a favour. I am not convinced that the full financial impact of the virus has hit home to the players and the PFA.

There are hundreds of players who will be out of contract in the lower leagues and will either not find a club or will be forced to take a significant pay cut because of the wage cap just implemented even if the clubs could afford it.

Whilst at the top level clubs like Arsenal are offering Patrick Aubameyang a large pay rise whilst laying off other people presumably to fund it.

The clubs will always find a way to pay the star players but I think the era of the average PL player earning 50k a week is coming to an end.

Some of our players are easily replaceable by Championship level players or cheaper players from abroad.

If Parish holds his nerve than next year those players coming to the end of their contracts will be more keener to re-sign that the club is.

....as will we to the Championship! This is a recent update from Sky. Nothing particularly new, the two most likely ones seeming to me to be Eze and Nelson

Championship budget for a Championship club. FYP, my arse!

8 to 10 games in, we could be in big trouble if we carry on playing the Roy way. “We have a very thin squad”, there’s a reason for that.
