I agree the current government is acting contrary to the interests of the the majority on many many policies, including on pursuing a muddled and feeble Breixt strategy.

Correct, however they did alter the 'statistical reality' in June 2016 when most of those who voted for the UK to leave the EU voted so because they hated foreigners living and working in the UK. You can dress up that fact in different ways such as 'controlling immigration' or whatever other smoke & mirrors that have been used to avoid the reality of it butthat's been going on since the referendum result. Plain and simple racism and xenophobia by those who were shown up as lazy, overpaid and uncompetitive.

If people voted in order to reduce immigration, I seriously doubt that any more than a tiny minority voted Leave out of hatred.

Interesting to see ICM poll out today showing 16% think Brexit is going well and 53% think it's going badly. Even out of those who voted Leave only 23% say it's going well. Tory voters are the most likely to think it's going well, however only 32% believe it's going well. All of these figures are worse than when the same poll wast carried out 2 months ago.

Clearly we'll never know the figures for people who may have voted one way or the other due to reasons of intolerance, however there is clear anecdotal evidence of some people voting leave out of dislike for foreign people, and stats on increases in hate crimes following the vote and people calling for foreign people to "go home". You also had campaigning from people like Farage with his billboard showing a load of darker skinned people which was clearly meant to incite feelings of dislike towards those people. A poll by Lord Ashcroft found that out of people who thought Multiculturalism was a "force for ill" 81% voted leave, that Social Liberalism was a "force for ill" 80%, Feminism 74%, Immigration 80%. This paints a picture of intolerance being a key motivator.

Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Feb 2018 1.13pm) I'm just saying I don't think Brexit is a silver bullet for these people's concerns, whether they are reasonable or not. It's clear that it's being mishandled and it's clear that the referendum process was deeply flawed. All it seems to be good for is getting Tory back benchers foaming at the mouth and proving the downfall for a succession of Tory Leaders. It might have been different with proper planning and competent management and care taken to ensure a parliamentary majority for stated government policy.

It is about perceived or real issues surrounding clash of cultures and the effect of migrants on the country. You are intolerant of this government for example despite historical evidence that the alternatives will do no better or worse.

You didn’t state the whole findings of the poll: May’s views on Brexit were more highly supported than Corbyn’s. The politican most respected for their Brexit views was Boris. Oh, and Labour are a point behind the Tories in the polls. Not content with labelling people ‘racist’, a seemingly natural reaction of the left, you are also manipulating data.
