I'll likely be eligible for the booster jab in a few months anyway (due to a minor health issue that gets me put on the 'flu jab' list) so if the first number isn't good enough for them I'll give them a third lol. It's turning into the bloody Premium Bonds!

Great news that all the restrictions are gone from July 19th - as long as Johnson sticks to his word…

Learning to live with covid will need it to be respected as the dangerous bug that it is. That being said hmg have done a fantastic job of getting us vaccinated in the numbers they have. I think other countries are looking at us as the guinea pig for opening up. Germany are taking us off their watch list and I have a feeling others will as well.

I notice the media is playing both ends even in the same newspaper. So we get "hooray it's over" followed by "it's a disaster we are opening up too soon" side by side. What annoyed me this morning were headlines bemoaning the confusion over face masks, the government is in a turmoil, contradictory messages blah blah. Unless you are an idiot there is no confusion over face masks. They will no longer be mandatory but the government is asking people to use their commonsense. For instance if you are on a crowded tube with your nose stuck in some person's armpit you might want to wear one. If the carriage is empty.... I will continue to wear a mask where I feel it necessary simply because I have not had a cold for over a year and I normally have one a month. The only morons are the media whipping this up.

Good post. 'Glum' and 'Glummer' who flanked Boris Johnson yesterday would have had us locked down since last March if it was their decision. I have perused an article where it was mentioned that Chris Whitty would rather have been anywhere else instead of at the press conference and looked like he was being paraded in a hostage video.

Yeah god forbid we listen to the scientists. They were both quite clear yesterday on when they would wear masks (and if sensible people listen to them, when they should as well). People with attitudes like yours are going to lead to many more people needlessly getting Covid and the potential longer term complications that go with it. It’s really unhelpful. I'm going to continue to keep wearing my Elvis jump suit because it's kept me safe so far. Don't be cruel to a heart's that true.

Edited by DanH (06 Jul 2021 9.40am) With respect, people are not forbidden from wearing masks ! It will just not be a legal requirement!! I suspect many will continue to wear masks in certain settings, this is their prerogative and I have no issue with it.
