Todays second download is a set by Elton John & Billy Joel that was recorded on their Face To Face Tour of 2002. This is in superb quality and the audio for the show has been taken from the soundboard and it sounds absolutely top notch. This is a wicked show - both artists do a solo set and also do some tracks together. Classics by Elton include "Rocket Man" "Im Still Standing" and "Crocodile Rock" - Classics by Billy include "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" "New York State Of Mind" and "We Didn't Start The Fire". They also perform some classics together including "Your Song", "Just The Way You Are" and "Benny & The Jets". This is a top show and if you like Billy Joel or Elton John this is definitely one for the collection. Todays first download is a bootleg of studio demos by Eric Clapton that was recorded at Sony Studios, New York on the 28th September 1994. The quality of these demos is absolutely fantastic - really great sound with the audio being taken from the studio master tapes. The version of "Crossroads" is one of the best I've heard. The backing band that he has is really top notch and if you like Ol' Slowhand - this is one that is a must have.... Todays second download are some more studio recordings - this time by Pink Floyd. These are The Extraction Tapes - recorded at the famous studios of Abbey Road and Britannia Row in London during 1975-1976. The quality of these tapes is superb with the audio being taken from the studio soundboards. The band are working on tracks from the albums "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals". These are early editions of the final product and sound slightly different. If you like Pink Floyd then download these alternate recordings... these are great and thoroughly recommended. Todays extra download is an early bootleg by David Bowie that he recorded at his flat in Foxgrove Road, Beckenham during April 1969. The filenotes I saw give a better and more detailed history of the tracks... "A fascinating glimpse of the genesis of the Space Oddity album is afforded by a 10-song acoustic demo tape recorded by David and his Feathers partner John “Hutch” Hutchinson, probably in mid-April 1969. In addition to the ‘Space Oddity’ demo, the tape features early versions of ‘Janine’, ‘An Occasional Dream’, ‘Conversation Piece’, ‘Letter To Hermione’ (here called ‘I’m Not Quite’), and ‘Cygnet Committee’ (with very different lyrics and called ‘Lover To The Dawn’). There are also renditions of the Feathers staples ‘When I’m Five’, ‘Ching-a-Ling’, ‘Love Song’ and ‘Life Is A Circus’. Exactly when and where this demo tape was recorded remains difficult to pinpoint. It was almost certainly after Kenneth Pitt’s meeting with Simon Hayes on April 14, and the presence of Hutch means that it can’t have been a great deal later, for he bowed out and returned to Yorkshire the same month. It has been suggested that the demos were recorded on professional equipment at Mercury Records’ headquarters in Knightsbridge, but this seems highly unlikely considering Bowie’s apologies on the tape for the “very bad tape recorder and microphone” and for the noises coming from the piano teacher upstairs; the usual consensus is that the venue was his new flat in Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, where he moved on April 14". If you like early David Bowie, download this piece of history which was recorded locally - even though it was recorded on some dodgy equipment - this has been remastered and now sounds really good for such an old recording... Here is a download link I found for :- "Lover To The Dawn" Demos - Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, UK. April 1969. - David Bowie (With John "Hutch" Hutchinson (Bootleg) Quality : Superb Tracklisting : 01. Todays first download is a set by the legendary Pink Floyd that was recorded at the Madison Square Gardens, New York City on the 2nd July 1977. This is in superb quality and the audio for the show has been taken from the soundboard and it sounds top notch. I've lost count of the amount of shows by Pink Floyd I've posted - loads, but this one is the first soundboard from the tour of 1977 that I've posted - I was under the impression that there were no 77 soundboards, so I was really surprised to see this one.. it sounds great and is the real deal.. Some classic tracks on this one from the DSOTM, WYWH and Animals albums.. a top show. If you like Pink Floyd then grab this one... this is thoroughly recommended... Todays second download is a request that I received the other day and I thought I'd use it as one of the daily downloads. This is a studio/live album by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - the bands album "The Best Years Of Our Lives" - remastered and including a live show at the Hammersmith Odeon which was recorded on the 14th April 1975. It also contains some previously unreleased material. Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel were a top band back in the day and his hit "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) is a classic - along with Mr Soft, and Judy Teen. If you like Steve Harley then download this album... this is great stuff and a wicked album... Here is a download link I found for :- The Best Years Of Our Lives (Remastered) - Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel Bitrate : 128Kbps Tracklisting : CD 1 : The Best Years Of Our Lives (original album remastered): 01.
