Also can’t overlook the fact that he picked up a team who narrowly avoided the drop and completely turned them around without spending a load of money. Ismael took over after 4 league games with Barnsley 21st in the table and of course got them into the play-offs. Edited by Willo (30 May 2021 6.14pm)

I don't think your view was discounted. Gardening leave is quite common (done it myself) but that doesn't stop someone looking for a job that is the whole point of gardening leave. If they actually start the job prior to the end of gardening leave then they lose any monies still owed. If Lampard is on leave until June 1 he can sign a post dated contract and even announce he is joining Palace on that date and it should not affect his compensation. If his contract does not allow him to even look then he should sack his lawyer because that is a bad deal. Anyway I think it is an academic argument I don't think Palace have agreed a deal with anyone at this time. Edited by Badger11 (30 May 2021 10.16am) If you say so. It is too painful to explain anything that isn’t simplistic or populist to some people.

I've just spoken with my brother who is friends with one of the Palace directors. Apparently two weeks ago they were playing golf when this chap received a call to say that Steve Cooper was top of the shortlist of candidates and terms were discussed subject to the outcome of the play-off final. So it looks like it could be Cooper, who has already lined up local living accommodation. Personally I'm not sure this is the right choice for us but presumably something will be announced in the coming days and I just hope the Club can then get on and start the rebuilding process.

Oh FFS It would not include not getting another job. That would be taking away a livelihood. Any two bob lawyer would rip that to bits. Tim Mapletree is spot on with his explanation. There is a requirement in employment law to mitigate loss.
Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it.. |

What's the big deal with Cooper? Can't see the attraction personally. May as well give it to Derry

What exactly has Cooper done to merit such attention? He hasn’t earned enough plaudits or accolades to be in the Premier League whatsoever. And part of me hopes this rumour is just that - a nothing rumour. Because we would be down in seconds.
"Look at that. Accident blackspot? These aren't accidents! They're throwing themselves into the road gladly! Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness!" |

Cooper took up the reins from Potter who was in charge of Swansea in the first season they were back in the Championship.Swansea under Potter finished in 10th place. Swansea under Cooper in his 2 seasons in charge have got into the play-offs in both seasons, finishing the league in 6th and 4th place.During his time in charge at Swansea they have recouped nearly £50 Mill more than they have spent. In his first season the signings cost around £1.75 Mill and last season that figure was around £500K. Cooper's England U17s won the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup.

i understand we all want to know whats going on, bit why should the club tell us anything whilst roy is actually still contracted to the club til june 1st. I don’t expect to be told what the plan is; I just want to be reassured that there is a plan! Townsend’s comments confirm that no behind-the-scenes deal has been done [he was told that a new contract can’t be offered to him until the new boss has been consulted: ergo no new boss to consult]. One consequence of the delay is that players we may wish to re-sign will get other offers. This makes the rebuilding job even greater/more expensive and by increasing the proportion of new faces at the club it raises the risk of new players not integrating/gelling quickly enough when the new season starts.
