That's a bit reductionist isn't it? America is a 'gun culture' country.

While I am not pro-gun...all things being equal...as there are exceptions in my view. While I'm not pro-gun I hardly think that simply being in the NRA is a statement upon the ethics of a person.

For example, Mogg isn't 'pro-gun' and you called him an extremist on here.

When I talk about both democrats and republicans having awful ethics I guess I'm talking about their activists and politicians (with exceptions)......If even if someone told me they were a democrat or a republican politican I'm not so child-like as to regard that as an automatic statement on their ethics. I'm not in the media, technology or educational institutions hiring someone.

Going back to the above point...and after their response straight after those kids were murdered at Sandy Hook calling for 'more people to have more guns specifically in schools', and with no thought for the families only themselves, I reckon membership of the NRA tells us a fair bit about the (lack of) ethics their folk must have.

I wonder how many gave up their membership after that? They will have some moral fibre at least. The ones that just looked the other way? Nah. None.

The net is closing in, so my question would be this. Almost inevitably there will be a Trumped up reason to fire Sessions, who has recused himself on the Russia investigation, and replace him with someone able to fire Mueller. I think this could happen sooner rather than later.

If Mueller is fired, it's a constitutional crisis of sorts, well to the non blinkered and non activists. As it will mean that the president has obstructed and fired anyone able to complete this investigation into a serious issue that goes to the heart of US democracy.

Misleading.

The only individual who has the power to fire Mueller is deputy AG Rod Rosenstein. Not the Trumper, however, if Trump fired Rosenstein then in lieu the new Deputy AG fired Mueller - well there is your cause for alarm.

Only Rosenstein currently can because because he's the highest non-recused officer. A new AG would be above him and able to. That's to the best of my knowledge anyway.

Well, I think it's here that we can see a difference between you and me.

Calling for guns in schools as a response to Sandy Hook isn't a terrible idea....It might be or might not be the better idea for the US in their situation. I'd consider it in their situation and I offered up a possible restricted way if could be done.....I wouldn't blame them for thinking of ways....it might be the lesser evil.

You go ahead and condemn the NRA membership. I'll disagree with the idea of 'gun culture' as a healthy national choice but I'll treat people how I find them.....and I'm not going to view people as lacking 'moral fibre' for being the member of a gun club.

This is correct; replacing Sessions with a non-recused AG would mean that person would inherit oversight of Mueller's investigation and provide him/her (who am I kidding...white him) with the authority to fire Mueller. However, in both cases - Trump firing Sessions and the new AG firing Mueller - there needs to be a legitimate "cause", it can't just be a preference.

Hmmm...did you not think they were being insensitive and opportunistic on the back of dead, bullet-ridden 6 and 7 year olds, then?

They could have kept a respectful and thoughtful silence considering the enormity of the massacre but chose to get on a lectern instead straightaway and lecture about 'more guns good'.

I am very thankful there is indeed, as you say a clear [ethical] difference between you and me on certain issues.

Bless him....he's got a chip about it. I do wish he ignored all this kind of stuff or made a joke about it....that was one of the things I liked about Obama.

I bet Obama is glad to be out of it all now! Trump probably wishes he could go back to his old own life too. He keeps wanting to emulate whatever Obama is doing. Maybe they should do a wife swap!
