Yes, I think you have a valid point, his record shows he can suffer a string of defeats. So maybe he's not the best option as I stated. But I don't think he'd be the worst either. He has had regular EPL experience with Swansea who were a very decent side under him until his run of bad form, and they have suffered for it, almost getting relegated save for Hull being so poor. But right now, at this point in time, we are in a pickle with no manager to buy our preseason targets and get the squad ready for the next season. I honestly do not think he would do a bad job continuing on from Sam's work. With Silva gone, Jokanovich needing 5 million just to begin to buy him, and with some prize clowns waiting in the wings, I think we'd do well to get Monk. I don't think he's as bad as Pardew. But I take your point, when the teams he's managing suffer a bad spell, he appears unable to turns thing around. point taken. I agree Parhmore eagle.although not my first choice wouldn't be to disappointed if monk gets the gig. Monk got Michu scoring goals for fun and feel he will get the best out of Benteke also should he get the job. 8th place finish with Swansea is pretty

I am 100% behind Parish, but a new manager coming in has got to look at the last few seasons and wonder whether there is something wrong with the club that we cant retain pretty solid individuals. Pulis leaving was one thing, you could argue that we were a bit too slow to get rid of Pardew, but Allardyce was a perfect fit. You could argue that two managers who were perfect for us have left - and if we were to get a big name in next then they would have to wonder what the systemic problem is at Palace and whether they would also come up against the same problems. We have to be realistic, the next manager is likely to be someone either with a bit of a tarnished reputation to repair (like Pulis and Allardyce), or looking to make a name for themselves (like Pardew). That brings us to Ranieri (slightly tarnished by what happened this season at Leicester), Hodgson (the England job did not go well), Moyes (please god no!!) or McLaren (ditto!!) or one of the few Championship managers who will not be in the Premiership next year (i.e. Wagner, Stam, Rowett, Redknapp, Jokanovic, Warburton, Carvalhal). I wouldn't look further than that in England, but you also have managers around Europe.

Sound footballing reasons or off the field distractions. Quite important.

Redknapp has just signed a contract for a year at Birmingham.

The more I think about it the more likely it seems that he never was. He was bigged up to us by the media so there was this expectation, but at the end of the day the media and the bookies know f*** all as well.

It seemed perfect as the two situations happened almost simultaneously. He left Hull and Sam left us. In reality, as someone pointed out in the other thread, I would be amazed if Watford hadn't already been in contact with him and a deal pretty much done before he left Hull.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

These posts are getting ridiculous. Next it will be Zidane being seen in the Clifton or maybe Bobby Robson rising from the dead to take over. Surely not? I thought Pele was a done deal.
