So many great memories of Wilf in a Palace shirt, exciting, mecurial and saved our ass when we lacked the quality around him. Probably still wants to be the "big fish" in a small pond, so hence his decision - our pond is a little bigger these days! Same with Olise, if its true Chelsea, or others, are turning his head, then we would be better off taking the money rather than him having regrets, potentially messing with his head and performance over the season. Because we are not a big club or squad, we want players who are team oriented, players that get regular starts to showcase their international ambitions and we have made considerable progress on that front recently. I hope Olise stays, but we have a couple of players in JRS and Naouirou Ahamada who can step up imho. Just need to strengthen full backs and get a consistent / natural goalscorer.

He hasn't signed anything yet.... what would the club say 'congrats on not yet signing a contract with a new club'. For me Wilf did us proud for many many years. Always gave his all and I appreciate the dedication he showed for so long.... good luck Wilf. Originally posted by eaglesdare
I dont think they did. A simple thank you on the website for started would be good. I dont even think many of our current players have posted anything on thier social medias wishing him luck either. In terms of replacements- I am sure Eze was bought a few years ago as the replacement.
Watching every game live on TV doesn't come close to the real thing..... COYP |

It’s a shame Wilf’s gone, but I’m not too bothered, I was gutted when Sansom and Wright left because we just knew that was the beginning of the end of those little era’s of ‘success’ because we knew others would follow. BUT this feels different, we’re passed that with Wilf, we’ve had his best years and despite needing a couple of players we’ve got a good team which is not going to be decimated just because Wilf’s left I hope he wins a couple of medals in Turkey and has a bit of a run in the champions league to vindicate his decision to leave. Not that he needs to vindicate his decision to me, but I don’t like the stick he’s getting from some for choosing Galatasary over us Good luck to him

Agreed, part of good Management of a football club at our level of wealth is how you manage a players contract. As far as Wilf was concerned we did well to keep him for as long as we did but we did not Manage his contract ending very well. Spurs are currently doing the right think with HK, he either signs a new contract this summer or they maximise a fee from him by selling him in the current window rather than allow him to go for free next summer. Unfortunately, Wilf whilst a great past servant to the club has to some degree let the club down recently by refusing to say no to the offer made but keeping the door open to maximise his return elsewhere if we had been in control when his contract was running down we would have at least got something back. As it is now with less than three weeks to our first game our whole preparation is still in limbo as we do not have a settled team and there are some big holes in the squad that still need to be filled!

I think Stan Collymore’s comments today were spot on... why there Wilf... he said he could have gone to Villa... Emery almost bought him at Arsenal and he could still have played in the Prem.. very odd decision.. Villa will be playing in Europe too....

No different to staying at Palace really.

I'm wondering how much truth there was in the 4 year contract or £200,000. Perhaps the truth was nowhere near that
