Perhaps because when the facts were checked, they weren't facts?

Must have been your lawyers and editors who get everything wrong.

Campbell reports facts.

You report slurs and opinions....if the slurs were funny it would be at least something but they are about as funny as CNN's viewing figures and as for your opinions....just hypocritical corn from Cornwall.

Which is why the messaging and the management would need to be ramped up. If they are needed, they will work.

You and the other lockdown zealots can shout as loud as you want but no-one is listening anymore…

That's a joke, surely? He misrepresents and misinterprets facts to present misinformed conclusions. As has been demonstrated many times by those better qualified than either of us.

I don't have any lawyers or editors. I edit my own contributions.

But after three vaccinations each they're not needed. If you choose to lock yourself away then fine, no one is stopping you.

If a new viral pandemic occurred there would not be any vaccines immediately available. The same situation would likely exist as did for Covid, so the same need to break the chains of transmission would too.

Handling that would demand a nuanced response.

There are no lockdown "zealots" that I am aware of. Certainly not me. Lockdowns are very regrettable and ought to be avoided unless there are no practical alternatives.

I am a pragmatic, albeit reluctant, acceptor of them.

And if a vaccine isn't, or can't, be developed?

We would be in the deep brown stuff.

It's very unlikely though. The development of vaccines is a well-understood process now. It just takes time and effort.

The world won't close down for a year or more while another vaccine is developed, if one can be found. As well as the financial implications the UN estimated that 10,000 children a month died of starvation in Africa due to interruptions to the food chain during the first lockdown.

Facts are facts. And that isn't one. It's an opinion.

You have proved my point, your posts are liberally littered with opinions you discuss as facts.

Going forward I shall point them put to you so you understand what is going on.

For example

London is a capital city - fact

Trump is evil - not a fact

I assume you get the general idea

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Herd immunity was always the solution. It only depended on how and when it was achieved.

Until the vaccines were developed and given to sufficient people it was never the solution. Especially as more transmissible variants emerged. Assuming that herd immunity would be achieved just by not doing anything was a stupid idea. We needed the vaccines to be freely available first. So another answer was needed to hold the line until they were. Hence the lockdowns.

It's not difficult to understand.

Just have to agree to disagree on our different opinions then.

What is a fact? Who decides what a fact is? Is it only a fact if it meets a certain agenda?

We'll see!

I have no doubt we would have learned what the worst side effects were and take steps to avoid, or mitigate them, but the basic consideration would still apply. Which is the least bad outcome? When everything is bad it's pointless to complain that the one chosen has had negative impacts. We always knew it would, but thought the other choices were even worse.
