A question then - we've got a crocked first team squad, and spend millions on the academy, yet no players from there get a decent start in the first team. Surely there should be decent players coming through who could be used by now?

In turn, that should attract players to the club that are going elsewhere and provide better facilities for those young players we want to develop. Do not expect an immediate return on this investment - it doesn't work like that.

I really want Hodgson out. I just want to go to a home game and see us score a few goals and try to win a game. Not just sit back and let the opposition have as much of the ball as they want with no pressing. Last season our average number of shots on target per game was over 4 - this season its down to 3. Nor are we getting as many penalties as we used to as we are not getting players in the box - especially Zaha who mainly passes the ball back from where it came. 0 corners and 0 shots on target against Southampton is unacceptable. Yes we've an awful injury list but does anyone really believe it would be any different if all those players were fit? Remember our manager had Harry Kane taking the corners for England - says it all really. (cough)Alan(cough)Pardew(cough).....

Unfortunately, Ajax are, along with PSV, one of the big two (or possibly three if you count Feyernoord)teams in the Netherlands and so can attract the best young Dutch players. We on the other hand are the smallest of the five London Premier League teams, never mind the big non-London teams. Having said that, Category 1 status should help attract a better group of young players and hopefully some who can graduate to the first team squad.

So go and buy some players out of the Ajax or PSV academy then. We have one and not used him for 2 seasons.

Do some of you want Premier League football?? It is a genuine question because the moaning about Roy Hodgson is becoming pathetic. Have you not learnt from other clubs examples such as Stoke. They had a Manager who had kept them in the PL for ten years but their fans started to moan non stop about their style of football so the Chairman panicked and sacked Tony Pullis. Take a look where they are now, just above the trapdoor in the Championship. Not quite as bad was the Arsenal fans hounding Wenger out and they, based purely on league points, are no better than us now. Be careful what you wish for. Agreed. Until we have owners willing to invest this is where we are at. Roy is a pragmatic manager and sets his team up accordingly. Thank god we are not Charlton. I get frustrated the same as any other fan but we are a club in the mix between mid table and relegation. Clubs like Everton have spent a fortune and yet they are not much better off then we are. Our American owners are not the best but then you look at the Glaziers and they are using Man United as a cash cow and apparently they are doing the same with their American sports teams as well. I want a new owner but it scares me that we will end up with another Billionaire who never puts their hand in their pockets. Anyway for now support Roy and the team he is doing a great job in trying circumstance and the squad seem to be united and happy. COYP

I have a feeling 40 is going to be the magic number this year, just because no team is totally detached from the rest. It could go down to the last week and involve 5 or 6 teams. I hope you are right with our number but I think we will finish closer to 40 points than to. 50 This is the exact reason why it is likely to be lower. If everyone is taking points off each other....

Well said. Many were predicting relegation for us before we kicked a ball this season after the lack of summer investment and AWB’s departure. Most would have snatched your hand off if offered 30 pts at this stage . Don’t get me wrong last night was dire and I’d certainly not be complacent about the ten more points we need but some very short memories on this board. Agreed, fickle is an understatement
