If they want the money back they’ve spent recently then there’s nothing we can do about it. 2 mistakes have been made by cpfc. 1. Poor scouting and buying £30 mil players and paying them £100-£130k. 2. These US shareholders. Although it’s possible we could’ve been relegated without them. The scouting etc was poor before they came in. Edited by Rudi Hedman (27 Jun 2019 12.11pm)

I imagine how this will ultimately be judged is how we spend the money. Perhaps the club will surprise us and we will have the AWB money plus another £40/50 million on top to spend on players (albeit unlikely). This is bang on, if anything your statement is naive tmj, we have sold an academy player with 18 months experience for 50 million ins position that we could get an adequate replacement in for a decent amount and still have enough to address the gaps in the rest of the team.

Certainly, yet we will pay way over the odds for any right back as clubs will know we have the money and the need. I personally can see Ward starting next season even though I don't think he should. Originally posted by coulsdoneagle

Oh that's brilliant. Pound signs more important than having a decent team. Bloody idiocy to sell AWB and to those blood suckers MU. What a bunch of t***s running CPFC. They obviously don't want to give the supporters who fork out every week to see them struggle to stay in premiership. That's my lot 62 years of support and I'm off. Bloody disgraceful Parish. Oh and not forgetting that other t*** Pardew. Sold Gayle because he didn't fit into his plans. What plans were they. Oh I know, struggle to stay up AGAIN. Sod'em all. Bye CPFC

£55m is a world record fee for a full-back. The test of whether it's a good move surely comes when Palace spend the money. I think it would have made more sense to buy first. This transfer has been on the cards for a long time.

Who wants to bet Kelly and Ward will be this season's right backs? Perhaps even Schlupp as he seems to have to play most games. Why worry if none of them are great or if they are keft-sided? I mean we didn't have any strikers or any left backs at one stage. Comical, but knowing how we do things, almost bound to be true.
