As a slightly different take on the issue, projections, 'facts' and figures aside, ask yourself this question....... imagining that the situation was reversed and we were voting to join the EU or not, based on what we actually KNOW about the organisation, it's operations and organisation, it's waste and unaccountability, would you vote to join or stay out? It may help some of the undecided among you to take another look at the situation from a different perspective. Honestly Becky, i would vote to join...i would however have to look at the figures/stats to arrive at this judgement, which i think are compelling

Indeed it matters not what the ES said, nor (evidently) the chief speechwriter for New Labour said of the policy. All that matters is Nigel Farage repeated (almost verbatim) those same words. That then permits people like you to not only dogpile onto him, but conveniently conflate "diversity" with "there is a black women sat next to you". This is exactly why Labour was, and remains fcuked. Election results have demonstrated they have alienated their core vote, and the North are abandoning Labour in droves. Who needs to shoot off your foot, when you've stepped on a landmine. Finally, to the point. I've not watched a single debate in this run up, where remain have been polled as winning it. Point me to some - I've been disappointed with their level of debate this far, as have the audience. Is the Mirror debate online in full yet? To the chagrin of the Mirror it was polled as a leave victory, but presumably under a somewhat select audience. I would be really interested to see the Remain argument put forward in debate well enough that it had swayed the audience. If you know of one, link appreciated. If you insist on labouring the point; the journalist in question was not Labour's chief speech writer, he worked for Jack Straw for a short time in 2001/2, a very temporary position it seems. He was the Standard journalist who ran the story, having reverted to his former career. He also has pointed out how the mail and telegraph distorted what he actually said and used it to fit their agenda, not unusual among journalists I'm sure you'll agree. Farage chose to repeat those distortions, but attributed them to Mandelson, which was foolish at best. The "out" panel chose to include someone who wasn't old male and white, and seem to be surprised that she took offence at Farage's remarks. How that is "dogpiling"(sic) I'm not too sure, as the phrase has little logical meaning. In any event, Farage will probably continue to alienate far more people than he will attract. He clearly needs to gain the support of waverers, who are essential if he wants to achieve his objective. That doesn't seem to be happening, quelle surprise!

We can dismiss all the economists, imf, BofE, OECD forecasts as 'guesses' and just stick our fingers in our ears but surely this is like Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burns. I promise you, if all of the above concluded that we would be better off in the event if brexit, i would vote to leave.
All the eminent economists back then were predicting meltdown if we didn't adopt the Euro.... "Britain would be in the Economic Slow Lane" they shouted at the top of their voices. We ignored them by sticking our fingers in our ears and fiddled away.... the Pound was voted in and our economy is now outstripping the Eurozone very comfortably indeed. Ladies and Gentlemen... stick your fingers in your ears, take your violin in hand and begin fiddling.... then vote LEAVE on June 23rd. Edited by Hoof Hearted (20 May 2016 9.31am)

Edited by Hoof Hearted (20 May 2016 9.31am) I dont think its me thats re-writing history Hoof, the truth is the BofE never supported euro entry, the treasury remained largely silent and put the case for both sides, the IMF remained independent and the politicians (pm and chancellor) said it it would only be considered if 5 economic conditions were met....thats what happened but like i say its irrelevant to this debate, we are not, and were never even close to joining the euro..and we will retain for the long term our own monetary policy...its like saying no-one should ever vote conservative because the considered the poll tax, its simply irrelevant

It is relevant because those eminent economists are sticking their nibs in now and predicting the same Armageddon. Just like betting on the Derby, people need to know the form of the runners and riders.
