I think I will actually cry if he joins the clowns and not us. Think about who will be our manager if its not Howe? Chris Coleman. I dont rate him as a manager at all unfortunately. Nice guy. But not the man for us.
I think initially we'll be very bewildered. It just doesn't make sense why he would want to go there. There's quite a list of reasons why he might come to you, most of which have been covered here - energetic new owners, you are still a Championship side even if he would have to work some to make sure you stay up etc etc. We'd need to hear his explanation but Charlton really would feel like 'just for the money' Hard to say how much that would tarnish Howe's regard from the fans. At the moment most anger seems to be directed towards our Chairman. Ugggh

VC just opened book again and odds are - Hill 4/6 With Skybet (Book open all weekend) I strongly beleive Howe will def not be our next manager. In horse racing terms a horse that was 1/3 and is now 6/1 does not win!!

What is it with Charlton ? They are always trying to get one up over us.I work with a couple of their fans and no doubt they can't wait to wind me up if Howe joins them.If that's the case and he does join them them so be it.

Crystal Palace target Eddie Howe could chose south London rivals Charlton Athletic over the Eagles. The Bournemouth boss is believed to have held talks with the Addicks yesterday even though he has been offered the manager's job at Selhurst Park. Howe, 33, is highly sought after but may still chose to stay at Bournemouth and is due to have a meeting with the Cherries' chairman this afternoon. Howe took charge of his 99th game as Bournemouth manager on Saturday and saw his side move up to second in the League One table following a 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle. Afterwards, an emotional Howe told the press he had a difficult decision to make over his future. He said: "I have a very, very difficult decision to make. “This club, the supporters, the players, mean so much to me and I have got a decision to make over the next few days. “It is one I know I have to make and it is not going to be easy. “I want to be honest with people because I think they need to know. “I have got to battle with myself and come to a decision which is right for everybody." Howe is expected to make his decision within the next 24 hours following his meeting with the Bournemouth chairman. Edited by Dazzling (10 Jan 2011 10.23am)

Ugggh but IF (and admittedly it's still speculative) he does go to Charlton does that make him any different from your chairman in his motivations? ie money at the end of the day, probably dressed up as job security / family considerations, but money all the same. I still hope he does come but if he chooses the clowns, your promotion rivals, it will be for the obvious reasons and I think maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing he didn't come here. Should give the guy a chance to make his mind up but just want this decided one way or another now..

If EH does go to Charlton, then that'll be yet another club that hates them.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get Howe now - I don't particularly care if he ends up at Charlton, but I really can't see how it would make sense other than money. I'm sorry to say that this potential delay in appointing a new manager (whilst itself probably unavoidable) only serves to highlight the poor timing of the decision to sack Burley - we're rapidly using up the transfer window which, I think most would agree, is pretty vital to our survival bid. I didn't want Burley gone but, if he had to go, he should have gone in plenty of time for us to get someone new in for January. We're really shot ourselves in the foot here. Anyway - it's about the long term and we can't undo what's been done so the most important thing is still finding the right man for the job. Having spoken to a few mates who support lower-division sides, nobody is a fan of Hill at all - although some accept he could do a decent job. Grade A c*nt is an expression that several have used. I'd still be wanting to talk to Tisdale and Hughton first and foremost - and Hill as well as I'm not going to rule him out yet just because my mates don't like him - certainly not until I understand exactly what they don't like about him! Anyway - I remain hopeful that the bookies were right first time and it will still be Eddie Howe. Most of all, I hope that we really are appointing for the long term now and that whoever comes in gets the chance to build for the future - not 6 months between transfer windows with a threadbare squad.

I'm getting a bit fed up with this now. Just make up your minds people and lets get this settled one way or the other. FF - have you been on the clown's boards as well? If so, what are they saying? (Couldn't bear to go on there myself!)
