I never knew any of this happened!

Is this why, going back a few years, the two clubs seemed to be rivals? I thought that was down to Steve Bruce!

No, it was just a party - the week after Hillsborough.

yeh big time Birmingham were relegated to the old 2nd div and their last game was to us so they decided to leave the division with an impact and they certainly done that remember one of the W*****S hitting a bloke who was in a wheelchair hated them ever since then so expect fire works when we play them soon

We're not going down and they're definitely not dragging their sorry arses up this season so not sure how we're going to be playing them anytime soon.

And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways

3-2 was a boxing day game in the eighties!
3-1 was a bank holiday when stan cummins scored and that went off outside.

GT

Boxing Day 88 was 3 1 defeat

So glad I found this thread. This was my first ever palace game and I was around 4 years old. Don't know where we were sat but I have memories of there being a wall in front of us and being sat on it during parts of the game to get a better view whilst eating sweets. Also of the odd player coming over and saying hello. But my clearest memory is of being put onto the shoulders of my brother and horses on the pitch. Didn't put me off luckily

Honestly I had been doubting my own sanity as I have mentioned it to other people and they have looked at me rather blankly. I googled it today and this thread came up. Funny seeing the descriptions of people in fancy dress as one of the most vivid memories I have of that day other than sitting on this wall and horses charging about is seeing over people's heads something like a grim reaper or skeleton in black which may have been a mannequin or model on a stick of some sort being held very high and waved around but I could never work out why someone would have that at a football match. Well now I know.

I still have a scar on my arm to remember this by. To my pals great amusement (and it still gets mentioned,) I was slashed by a clown.

These new fangled scary clowns have nothing on the older ones...
