'Give it a rest'....yes, yes and a further YES from me.

For a start, he's no mercenary player who will flit from club to club but is Palace through and through. He can still play at the highest level (Champions League regular fixture, despite losing favour with manager towards the end of the season); he's affordable and who are the alternatives lining up to play for Palace anyway?

i think the loan fee includes wages - however, it reports he's on £140k a week, which he definitely isn't. Gala quoted wages of c£70k a week when they signed him plus a big signing on fee (£2m i think).

If you said wages of £100k a week that's c£5m in wages and £4m in loan fee.

Can't see it happening - with us and potentially other Prem teams unless the numbers are lowered.

I love the guy but any money available this summer should be invested in the future and sadly that's not Wilf.

He's a club legend and it can stay that way.

A very sensible post. Zaha is best seen from a rear view mirror, return players tend to not work out.

Does he improve our current squad ? Yes, we're not in a position to have 2 players in each position, in their prime, worth 40 mill.

I thought Jimmy was older than that.

Yup that is true but most of their signings will not reduce the overall age of the squad.

On one hand I agree that we have moved on and best to move forward.

On the other hand....he does add that depth that we have missed for years. We seen what it was like with our 2 star players injured all last season.

And then....I really do not miss the arms flapping about and constant moaning. I don't think supporters would be as forgiving now as years ago when he was at it.

I haven't changed my view noted on here before that, as much as I enjoyed and valued Wilf's time with us, we shouldn't take him back now. I believe he would be an unnecessary distraction from Ollie's aim to build a new team moulded in his style.

Let's remember Wilf's glory days and move on.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

“Champions League is top. But I just needed something new and the reality is, obviously Premier League is top, top but I just wanted my identity not just to be Crystal Palace.

“You’ve got to understand, I love Crystal Palace so much but I’m more than Crystal Palace.

“I didn’t want my talent to just be seen like one of those things where the people go ‘the streets won’t forget ballers’.

“I’m more than that… ‘he used to just do tricks and nutmegs in the Premier League’… No, I helped the team win games. You can look at stats, If I didn’t play, we weren’t winning.”
