"Hopkins said, however, that the issue also highlights that clubs outside the very top echelons of the Premier League are finding it tough to attract shirt sponsors." From the article, I found interesting. I find it very hard to believe that palace cannot find a reasonable shirt sponsor, and get a reasonable deal. I get it, money talks, but C'mon. Begs the question, wha tif the stadium gets a re name, would that piss people off? Personally.. not me, it's always Selhurst park. It could be the 'jjb stadium at Selhurst Park'

Is say is as their sponsorship lasts for another year. They too have Macron as kit suppliers.

I’m afraid any ethical concerns go out of the window when you’re trying to get as much money in as possible to try to compete against other clubs who clearly don’t give a monkeys either. If it helps put a team on the pitch that can carry on the form we showed in the last few games of last season then I certainly don’t care

At what point would your moral compass kick in if you have one? Or would you be happy, to paraphrase Ricky Gervais, if Isis sponsored our shirts as long as we continued our good form ?

The new shirt sponsor is not interested in the UK market, their customers are in China and Asia. 8 is the luckiest number in Chinese so 88 is double lucky
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I didn't suggest they did either so seems a strange question to ask. Not stranger than spending my energy trying to insinuate that another fan's lack of emotion toward the shirt sponsor of our football club is is akin to supporting terrorist organisations and that they are morally bankrupt however. If I had very strong feelings on the matter I might try and express that without trying to deride others by using lunatic equivalencies.

You seem to be rather fixated on the subject of spending or wasting energy by expressing opinions or asking questions. The inference being that you yourself find such things tiring. I wasn't questioning his level of emotion only his moral compass. This sponsorship deal does not sit easy with me. Particularly with a company of whom we know next to nothing. My comparison with Isis was obviously light hearted (as was Gervais' being a comedian) although we shouldn't underestimate the damage betting companies do to peoples lives. I had hoped for better from my club.

would anyone mind if it was Paddy Power or William Hill? Or is it that it's an unknown overseas betting firm? So is the problem really that it's a betting firm, or that it's an overseas company, or that it's an unknown company? Doubt anyone would mind if it was a 'reputable' high street betting shop, double standards galore.

I had hoped for better from my club. My initial response was very brief and meant to be light-hearted, perhaps things get lost with written posts. I'll just apologise at this stage if I've contributed to or even started something here. I agree with it not sitting easy too, it doesn't with me. If I were involved in the decision making for this at any stage I'd of at the very least stated my opposition to it. I think I did previously say it however I'd be quite shocked if this deal provides us with wonderous riches that were not available via sponsorship from a reputable company. Suppose I'll never have insight into how it came about however and I'll leave running of the club to those that do it.

If you can, I've never seen it. Personally, I'm against any betting sponsorship simply because one of my friends is a bad addict. It's really made me think about how much gambling advertising there is at sports.
