Farage was hit by brick or a concrete piece from a building site just a day or so after this milkshake. I know some are tone deaf to escalation while attacks on politicians are celebrated as a bit of a laugh but clearly that attitude emboldens these attacks. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Jun 2024 11.51pm)

Only Farage seems to produce this type of reaction. His attitude almost invites it because it is so often confrontational. Maybe he needs to have a screen in front of him or be so far from the crowd it couldn’t happen.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

God the moralising over a milkshake is enough to make you sick - every single election campaign an incident like this happens, and every single election campaign the tabloids tell you 'IT COULD HAVE BEEN ACID', and unless I'm forgetting something, it never has been. Farage was egged in 2017 and milkshaked in 2019, and low and behold, it didn't escalate to any violence!

Of course it's "only a milkshake" but politicians generally are under increasing levels of threat so are likely to be more attuned to the potential dangers.

What may be more effective is to focus upon the demographic who are throwing things at him. Those who live cowardly lives of failure and insignificance will always find something/someone external to blame for their misery and resort to cowardly methods when lashing out.

Politics in this country has for some time focussed upon this abhorrent strategy - 'Are you miserable, full of hate and resentment? Don't worry, it's not your fault, it's someone else's'. Hence the prevalence of 'left-wing', 'social justice warrior' types now. Their counterparts have been provided less of a platform but I do fear their rise and we are seeing this in Europe. Politics has almost long forgotten about any focus upon running this nation or apparently others effectively and more so on rallying those being pushed further toward the bottom of socio-economic scale. 'Tis rhubarb.
