...and after two games he will leave for Blackburn.

They might need a manager soon, if reports are to believed, Jon-Dahl Tomosson is expected to leave, soon.

I’m sure he’s quite happy as he is, out of the firing line being paid s***loads to fly round the world sorting out the occasional transfer

If Cooper comes to Palace he will be at the other end of the spectrum - small bunch of decent players in the first team, large bank of talent already in the academy set up, and a Chairman who not only does not interfere, but seemingly fails to do the one big thing on his 'to do' list.

Simon Jordan on Talksport said Dougie doesn't want the job.

I’m curious as to why people dislike Cooper so much when you look at his CV.
He won the youth World Cup with England, and took Swansea to the play offs in his first season.
He went to Nottingham Forest and took them from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League , a feat that they hadn’t achieved for many years.
Promoted clubs often struggle as we have seen in recent years and frequently go straight back down.
However, he kept them up against the odds despite a basket case owner who bought players against Cooper’s wishes and constantly undermined him.
That to me looks a pretty unblemished career up until this season.
The fans idolised him there which seemed to antagonise the owner even more so it was no surprise that there was a parting of ways.

I’m not particularly a fan of the football his teams play, but it seems only fair to try and introduce some balance into the debate.

Its incorrect to say players were bought against his wishes. I saw an interview with him a few weeks into his first season in the Premiership and he categorically stated he was aware of as well as approved of every single incoming player. In fact many of them were targets he asked Forest to bring in. So its a myth to say he didn't want any of these players. Besides, Its a laughable defence of a manager anyway. First we're supposed to feel sorry for a manager that isn't supported in the transfer market. Now we're supposed to feel sorry for one that is given a whole new team to go with the one he has? Its a nonsense.
The reality is he did very well with an England youth team that had so much talent in it any manager would have fancied his chances of success. I have no argument with his Championship successes at Swansea and getting Forest promoted by those achievements are irrelevant when talking about managing in the Premiership.
If you look only at what he has done as a top flight manager in his first year he spent more than most top 6 teams, had no significant injury problems, was languishing in the bottom 4 for the whole of that season and stayed up by the skin of his teeth. In his second season he had to be sacked because he was taking Forest down. You only have to look at what Nuno has done with the same players since Cooper left.

Its all about opinions, no argument there. I respect other peoples but for me? he is not good enough, certainly no better than Roy which is surely what we all want if we are going to make a change and personally I very very much hope Parish doesn't turn to him just because he is available. Theres a good reason why in the months he has been that no other club has.

If it was the same edition that I listened to on Tuesday, Jordan also said that if Parish asked Freedman to do it then he thought he would.

Dougie himself told me that he wasn't interested in management anymore, but that was some time ago now and people do change their minds.

However, I don't see DF taking the job should it become available.

You says it’s incorrect?
Cooper would see it differently.
He told Carragher in an interview,
‘As a manager I can’t just go , ‘I did’nt want him. It’s not the players’ fault.I can’t just go I never bought them so I’m not playing them..The training ground is a nightmare.’
Carragher added that Forest was the one club where the manager hadn’t a clue who was coming in .
The last point is probably an exaggeration because Cooper no doubt was involved in the acquisition of young British players like Gibbs White.

Even if one accepts that Cooper hasn’t done well more recently, the same argument could be applied to Hodgson.
A terrible winless run at the end of his last spell at Palace, took Watford down, and has presided over a team this season that can’t defend nor attack nor score from set pieces.

I don’t know if Cooper would be right for Palace, but it does seem unfair to dismiss him out of hand without looking at his career record is decent.

Maybe we should put all the season ticket holders in a hat, and pick out the new manager
