I am still concerned about spending heavy cash , in our terms, on an untried youngster from the Championship when we need a ready made player to see us through to stay in the Premiership. Living in Lancashire opinion of him is yes great potential but very raw and error prone whilst also doing brilliant things. So he may turn out to be an Eze or Olise type signing but how much he would help us between now and the end of the season when we need help most is very debatable. COYP
January is a tough window to get a proven PL player. We may have to accept that we go for Wharton and keep our fingers crossed that Hodgson than get us over the line by the season's end and we can regroup then. At least Munoz is likely to be an upgrade on what we have at RB/RWB.

I guess second best is to get someone like Wharton who may develop into that player in the future. I still lean towards us staying up anyway even without signings and Munoz will help the cause. I have no objections to spending money on Wharton but us fans should not expect miracles from him at such a young age and minimal experience.COYP

Just been reported that Blackburn don’t need to sell any players and are financially viable til end of season. Apparently court in India have unfrozen the Venky’s assets. However, I still think we will sign him.

Not really, you must have a short memory painter, how about Benrahma, Bowen, Ings, Downes? They even tried to pinch Cabaye from under our noses But not Eze, Olise, Guehi, Andersen etc, so not every player we go after. My memory is fine.

Being reported that Chelsea now interested Our best chance of signing him was a surprise swoop and get it done. Now we are playing our usual game of silly buggers and trying to get him as cheap as possible he will no doubt go elsewhere. Next ! Edited by BelfastEagle (28 Jan 2024 11.24am)

He wouldn't have been coming here. This is our modus operandi every transfer window. Throw a scrap of a rumour of a believable young English player out to placate the fans that we're actually doing something. If we're getting anyone like this it'll be the poor man's Adam Wharton with a Scottish or Irish twang.

Seems a reasonable offer for an untried young player in the Premier.

I'd be more worried about Newcastle than Chelsea. Unless he just wants the money, surely he'll be better off in his career actually playing games rather than competing with a million other players there.

We need to sign him in this window otherwise we won't get him. Chelsea - not worried about them, as they have Ferandez, Caicedo, Gallagher, Lavia. How is he going to get any game time ? Would be foolish to go there. Newcastle - they would get him in the summer, as they have finances then. Plus it means he stays up north, but can be a big factor. However, he seems like a Howe signing to me, so if Howe lost his job a new manager might have a different outlook on new players.
