I’m absolutely baffled. Why did we pay £26M for a player that has huge potential in Franca and leave him on the bench. It’s frustrating to watch. He’s the most expensive player we have, Roy will ruin him if he hasn’t already. Give the kid a chance ffs

The fee for Franca was around £17 Mill rising to a possible £26 Mill.He was not a regular for Flamengo, is very inexperienced and most of his appearances were from the bench. He is a 'Work in progress'.

Love Roy, but he’s looking tired and uninterested now and that is definitely rubbing off on the team. There’s obviously hints of frustration at the strength of the squad and with SP announcing only loans in January, I think Roy’s had enough.
I wouldn’t sack or let him leave by ‘mutual consent’ just yet though, we don’t want any new manager to have such a tough first few games.

His apprentice Paddy is not up to the job, either.

No I can’t see what all the fuss is about with Paddy either, maybe if we were a division or two lower, but he’ll be out of his depth imho

In my opinion Roy is doing the best with the limited resources he has. Parish should have brought in some more players in the summer - the team is only half decent when both Olise and Eze play and both have had injury problems this season. The squad is too thin and we don't have a decent goal scorer.

When he's not beating Forest, Fulham, Luton, Everton how is he doing the best he can?

Not condoning whoever threw that bottle at Roy, but given that it missed him I’d start by questioning our forwards.

If we lose a few more before the Christmas fixtures are over , and it would be no surprise if we did ,then Roy should be begging Parish to release him. By then it will not be easily turned around. Wilf, probably waited to see what was being done for the coming season realised very little , and knew that this was inevitable,

I didn’t know about this, but I hope it didn’t just miss him ,but that it was an empty plastic thing. Younger men than Roy have died by a glass bottle thrown in fury.

Pity SP didn’t feel the need to look at loans in the summer

Well, we did have Lewis Hall from Chelsea lined up who would have been of great benefit playing down the left-hand side. Of course, Roy would probably not have picked him as he just turned 19

In any event, Newcastle came in for him and it suited all parties for him to move. Having said that, he has played less than 60 minutes in the league so I guess there is a faint chance Newcastle would loan him to us come January

I cant understand why he didnt play Olise in the free role behind Edouard, Ayew on the right, where all 3 assists have come from, Schlupp on the left, its his only position, and to not bring Franca or Ebowei on just smacks of stubbornness.

Is exactly right Lanzo..!!

Why because he is Roy - and obdurate beyond belief - this is my formation I'm sticking to it irrespective of available resources and whether it means playing square pegs in round holes..!!

Roy will just not change, it's his way or the highway..!!

He's comments after the game that we as fans have been "spoilt" are both typical Roy i that he will never accept responsibility and then bordering on derisible - how have we been spoilt - we have lost to Luton and Bournemouth - how does Roy see that given the resources we have available we as fans should not expect to be beating teams like this..??

As I said previously Roy will always play experienced mediocrity over youth and potential.

Last nights comments and those after the Spurs game - "youngsters just not good enough" - tells you all you need to know..!!

I'm not discounting that we have injuries to key players - but we have been beaten twice Luton and Bournemouth by teams not better than us but just showed more desire - that starts with the Manager and Roy can dance around it all he likes - but we just ain't showing basic desire - and that Roy is down to you..!!

For me - he's time is done and it's time for someone that will give youth and potential a chance..!!

I for one am fed up with Roy stubbornness - blaming everything/everyone rather than looking at himself and his own turgid team selections and tactics..!!

COYP
