I like the idea previously suggested that each team get a set number of challenges (2 or 3) which are retained if upheld, like with cricket, rather than VAR looking for reasons not to allow goals. Maybe red cards could be challenged via VARV too if thought incorrect.

Apparently England, the AVAR and Oliver the 4th Official had all been in UAE on Thursday with FA approval. What is going on here?

Saudi want our Refs to do their matches. Apparently the FA have given their blessing, lots of money for them. The ones that went were a 'fact finding' trip. From what I've heard, the Saudi's will pay a fee to the FA per team sent & they will also pay the team a match fee.

They can have Darren England every week!

They currently totally over complicate the check.

It should go like this... the ref asks 'Check to see if that was offside." The VAR tech team immediately run a replay with their lines etc. and give an immediate response. Either 'yes that was offside', or "No that was onside.'
That's it. Not rocket science. It takes the responsibility correctly away from the ref and the technology is final as it should be.
All that.....'are you happy with this' is absolute tripe woke nonsense.

These woke VAR checking officials need to be changed for decision makers who do it as above and take on the responsibility of checking the incident using the high tech available. It's called teamwork. All this making the ref come and watch a screen etc. is nonsense.
See how rugby do it. All the communications should rightly be shared with the spectators live. This way it would never be questioned.

They should definitely change VAR use to only when being called by either manager. The manager should have the right to request a check up to 3 times in each half. Just like in tennis. If the manager is right he doesn't lose his call. If he is wrong then he only has 2 calls left.
This way, offside can go back to how it was and the game will flow much better. Plus VAR will make a lot more sense to everyone and cease being questioned.

A couple of times I've seen rugby mentioned. The TMO has not really made rugby any better. Still bull calls a lot of the time. Mainly to do with what exactly the TMO is asked to look at - or not. There have been terrible calls in this world cup - simply to speed up the game. Previously, games were taking ages with little actual playing time and the TMO rewinded every try, finding a way to disallow it. As for foul play, sometimes seen, sometimes not. Hardly a ringing endorsement. I preferred rugby without it.
The one to watch for this is Rugby League. The ref watches the big screen himself if unsure but, ultimately, they use common sense. Decisions are quick and decisive in rugby league. Football and rugby union refs clearly lack this.
The other sport is cricket. The three challenges have added to the game - not taken away. There are tactics in using the challenges and the crowd clearly sees the process. The TMO has taken from the game in rugby, and like VAR, doesn't get it any more correct in general anyway.

No doubt VAR is not what it should be, what most people hoped it would be.
Palace have had their share of bad decisions, both for and against. But when I hear Mr Klopp, wanting a replay because the referees got a decision terribly wrong I find myself saying what!? because it’s Liverpool.? It’s not likely to happen, but who knows with the amount of obvious influence the big four/six have had on British football ,certainly since the coming of the Premier league.
If it did happen there is going to be a lot of replays claimed in future. I remember us scoring a perfectly good goal at Bristol City years back, went through the net. And how could anyone forget Clive Allen bursting Coventrys net only to be told no he hadn’t. Get over it Klopp. many others have had to.

I was there that day, I’ll never forget the disbelief of it not being given, we were right in that corner the ball flew in as well

So if klippity Klopp gets his way, I definitely want that replayed

I expect members here have seen the audio/video of the VAR fiasco concerning Liverpool last weekend.

What an eye-opener, a Kafkaesque tragi-comedy of errors.

Well this weekend we are going to have 'new VAR guidelines'.

My place is reserved already, hiding behind the sofa.

Is it going to be called VAR HS2?

It'll be back to LiVARpool now, as it was before. The crying's been done.
