So you are saying he does not have a release clause?[ fingers crossed you are right! quote=eritheagle;3810622] It was widely reported last year that he signed a longer and more lucrative deal with us. Part of the terms which he agreed was the scrapping of the £35m buy out clause.

No, it doesn't. It has been debunked a few times on here & Darren Ambrose, live on Talksport radio this morning(BST) said it was removed & wasn't true Yes, I heard this too. Ambrose is still heavily connected with the club (works there as a pre and post match speaker in corporate hospitality) and confirmed that there is NO release clause in Olise’s contract. He would have no reason to say this and absolutely nothing to gain from saying it if it wasn’t true. I’m sure some think that just because several media sources copy and publish the same rubbish it becomes the truth.

So "according to reports" Chelsea think Olisé is worth £39m and Gallagher is worth more than £40m (they are said to have rejected a bid of £40m from West Ham).

I would agree that at this point in their careers they are probably worth about the same amount and are two shining lights amongst numerous youngsters coming through although it is easy to understand why Chelsea have turned the bid down for Gallagher and equally why we should be adamant that £39m is nowhere near enough for Olise.

Olise is undoubtedly one of the brightest prospects in league and we should either hold on to him or reluctantly sell at no less than £55m.
The beatings will stop when morale improves. |

If Olise stays clear of injuries then it is clear he has a pathway to the very top. He is absolute class and is developing at a rapid pace. Based on what other top class youngsters are moving for surely we shouldn't even be listening to anything less than 70m and even then I would only listen if he is agitating for a move. If Chelsea want him I'd say "We'll have Madueke and 50m, thank you very much." If Man City want him I'd say "We want £150m, thank you very much." Personally I just don't see this happening due to his injury as without a release clause we'd want seriously big money for a player who can't do a medical.

Gallagher's valuation comes almost directly from his performances at Palace. Asides from scoring a curler against us he's done naff all at Chelsea and will probably be viewed by many as surplus to requirements there. Olise is pivotal to us and despite being a top quality PL winger now is still getting better. Just for laughs I'd put Olise north of £60mil and Gallagher, at best, half that. That is just my opinion of course but I'd be prepared to defend that stance.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

To be fair Connor is a full international, if toy wanted to make comparisons. But you'll always be looking to buy low and sell high. Everyone knows WH have some cash to spend, so they aint paying market rate for anyone

All I would say to counter that is if you play Gallagher in his strongest position, he will look better than he has recently looked at Chelsea. Generally I agree that Olise has more potential as you can’t learn some of the skills he possesses.

If Olise has no release clause then we should set his bar at £50m plus add ons and a share of his sell on.

I don't pay much heed to player stats, as I find it all a bit boring, but I'm sure I've read that Olisé's stats from last season were among the best in the PL. Where were Gallagher's? My reason for making the price comparison was, of course - as a couple of posters have picked up - as a warning against yet another shafting by a big club, simply because they are a big club.
