It’s just a question of when the tipping point will be reached.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

I see that the African immigrant that carried out the murders has been found guilty of manslaughter rather than murder because he is a bit mad. Aren't all killers a bit mad? Long, long string of previous episodes, very little done about them. Now going to be looked after in some sort of hospital and probably let out at some point when he will no doubt kill some more. Still, someone on here will tell us it's all worth while because the NHS need immigrant staff. Edited by georgenorman (25 Jan 2024 12.34pm)

Edited by georgenorman (25 Jan 2024 12.34pm) in theory, you put all the baddies into Prison and thus your society is safe and ok to live in. In Theory. It makes a mockery of the theory now. When there is a rumour of all the Prisons in the Third World being emptied. Their violent contents being shepherded Northward with a 'do not come back' ticket. Seemingly Vlad Putin is behind the whole exercise. Destroy the West by our own do-gooder weaknesses. Putin has identified the chink in our Armour. And it is working a treat. it is looking like that Nottingham African stabber got a whole Life tariff....medical hospital supervision type thing. And how many million quid will he be costing the taxpayer ? And will a prison-hospital be nicer & softer than doing hard-time at Belmarsh ? Josef Stalin had a cheaper remedy. very glad none of you gammons are in charge! A trope of a civilized society is how we treat our wrongdoers . That is not "lefty" thinking. That is Winston Churchill. This man was tried after a long process where all the factors were weighed up and an intelligent and proper judgment arrived at based on centuries of built up jurisprudence going back to the Romans. If the AG disagrees after reviewing everything the court viewed, then I will mend my view. Otherwise, the correct judgment even if the relatives of the victims are baying for blood. To me, life in a prison or life doped-up in a different, high walled institution? Similar cost, same outcome. If you Express-fed, frothing, rage-monsters don't like it, perhaps relocate to Alabama? You will be well received there.

He'd have the guy shot - no problem. He had several shot for less. Churchill would count it as an attack on Britain itself. So don't bother pontificating about Express readers or foaming at the mouth. Plenty of normal, average people all around you now, wouldn't care one iota if the guy was executed in public or if he accidentally dies in custody. People get angry - it's a normal emotion when faced with utter scum like this. Imagine this happened to one of your own - you'd shrug your shoulders and think - yeah poor sod with issues. You'd want actual punishment - not kid gloves.

The whole fabric of our penal system rests on the base of an arms length impartial "blind" arbiter determining the outcome and not those directly impacted. Of course if it were me and my family I would personally bury him alive. Which is precisely why I cannot criticise the victims' families. Too much hypocrisy. And it is precisely why punishment decisions should be far removed from the likes of me. However that point is incidental. If the court erred it deserves to be pulled up. Otherwise thank whatever you worship or respect that you live in a country with a well established rule of law and largely sensible albeit grossly underfunded judicial system

I have always been against the death penalty. But this takes me several notches being in favour in extreme cases. What is the point of keeping this man alive? He'll be a risk to anyone near him ie other inmates and staff, for what? so we can keep a beast alive. Not to mention the cost to tax payers. I can see it now in 12 or 15 years, he'll have, found God, probably in Islam, shown great remorse, and pleads for release so he can do God's work. Yeah Alah's work killing infidels. I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

You will be well received there. What an unpleasant post. Of course the relatives are baying for blood. Perfectly justified and reasonable. If this man is going to be locked up for life, then a murder charge should have been delivered in this case. Those three poor souls were doing zero harm to anybody. Their killer was clearly of sound mind enough to murder a van driver and then try to turn his van into a weapon. For the families peace of mind a murder verdict, with the subsequent life sentence should have been sort no matter what.

No he was of unsound mind, and his sick mind told him what to do. So diminished responsibility I think is correct. It's heart-breaking and unbearable I know, and the opportunities not taken must be investigated for the future. We don't want a society where people are put to death in barbaric fashion out of revenge like Alabama. Don't forget they have occasionally been wrong.
