How about we rotationally foul Prowse-Ward? All in the name of amicable friendship of course.

After his performance against Chelsea at the bridge, you couldn’t really blame them, targeting the danger man was most definitely a thing back in the 70’s , and he was definitely our danger man. yes, Lawrie McMenemy definitely didn't say to David Peach: "Nobble Taylor!" Lol. Worked like a Peach.

If anyone feels the Hol is a negative den of pessimism then try reading a Saints forum. Everything is wrong. Bad owners, terrible manager who has no tactical idea, lazy players who don't care and strikers who have no relation with barn doors. They even regret Wilf won't be playing as JWP winding him up appears to be their only hope of beating us! They expect to attack us constantly, but toothlessly, and then be torn apart by our "skilful counter attacking".
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Seriously, we fans are a rum lot. One moment our players can't hit a barn door - the next they're worth tens of millions and will be snapped up by the bigger fish, because they blitzed a poor, tired and clueless team. Southampton are a team that tends to get the better of us. If we were to beat them, it would be the first time we've done the league double over them since 1990/91 - that's 19 seasons since in which we have failed to do so. The only other time we've done the league double over them was back in 1922/23 so perhaps - just perhaps a centenary celebration might be on the cards! They've done the league double over us no fewer than 9 times so we do have some catching up to do and we probably won't get the opportunity next season! PS -I still think it'll be a draw. Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

TBH I am usually very pessimistic, for self preservation if nothing else, however I just think we're a much better team than them, have confidence and some tactical sanity restored, off the back of two wins etc, whereas they really are in the mire and may be struggling to identify a paddle for their creek. A draw is a reasonable result and a win will be delicious. I am unusually confident in getting one or the other. If I could pin this post I would as a reminder to myself to prepare always for the worst in the future... should I be wrong.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

They need the win desperately or they will be further cut adrift, therefore it all depends if they go gung ho and push numbers forward against our resolute defence, then tire ala Leeds, upon which the space opens up for our forward line. As long as we hold out they'll get more desperate as the game progresses and the gaps will open for us to exploit. I can hope for at least a draw, and I'm expecting Roy to get the tactics spot on.

We've had two excellent results but should never underestimate the opposition who will be fighting for their lives. Another MUST win could inch us to the verge of safety. I'd like less of the 'soaking it up' and more of the football we are clearly capable of.
