Apparently there's an article by The Athletic offering an 'insider' commentary on PV's sacking, and pins a lot of that on Osian Roberts.

Anybody with further insight to offer or amendments to my statement please feel free, only just become aware and am supposed to be working!

There's going to be a lot of finger pointing and blame attached to various personnel. I don't see what Roberts brought to the table. I remember seeing an interview where he came out with the usual clichés I'd heard in meetings during my office career.
Perhaps he was the doughnut run boy.

I was at the Everton match, I would have had a go at the players, made Everton look like world beaters!
Yet PV, said we did ok!! BLKS

Just heard Darren Ambrose on the radio suggesting that the
sacking was warranted and pretty much confirming the Derry Everton story and the fact that Derry is still on the payroll.
Perhaps there were doubts about Vieira around the time he removed Derry from first team duty.
Parish is close to some of the older players and in times gone by used to get training ground info from the likes of Damo and Jedi.
This in part led to the removal of Warnock.
Some may think this is not a good thing, but clearly Parish wants to know what's going on and has his methods.

I've always been an advocate that the Transfer Windows should apply to Managers too, I'd stop the constant will/they wont they discussions and force clubs to put more faith in the managers they appoint, working with them rather than having a 'sack em if it goes wrong' mentality.

It'd also stop Managers getting 'stolen' by other clubs midseason, leaving the Departed club in turmoil.

Vieira's Departure hasn't changed my mind on this, despite me moving to the 'out' camp recently.

While I regret seeing him go, I'll reserve my final judgement until Christmas. If the players work harder and score more goals in the remaining fixtures this season, though, of course I'll be grateful.

I imagine that Parish et al believed they needn't address the striker situation until the summer, when Wilf's future (and the associated finances) would be clear. The improved midfield has been welcome defensively, but they bring nothing going forward. In attack we've been grossly incompetent, and I can't say whether that's the fault of the players or the manager.

My last word? Just having ONE fit scrappy player on the squad, like Macca or Gallagher or (here's my bias) one of those battery-powered Yanks (Pulisic, Aaronson, etc.), might have brought us the additional 4-6 points by now, and PV would have remained and kept us in the top half of the league for years.

Matt Woosnam has reported that there were considerations to sack him in FEBRUARY 2022! As in around the time we had 3 England players and en route to an FA Cup semi final.

This is because of 'concerns over his coaching staff'.

What the hell does that mean?

Does that link with Osian Roberts? The Shaun Derry debacle?

At the end of day PV can feel hard done by with lack of signings etc. but he has had all year knowing who his strikers were and he still messed around week after week with silly tactics and kept trying with the likes of Ayew and Schlupp.

This bad run has gone on 12 games or so and he has kept up with the same garbage week after week even though he must have known his job was on the line.

I do have some sympathy for him and I am not happy to see him go but it is 100% the right call as we are easy pickings to every team in the division.

I have absolute faith that we will stay up comfortably now.

I don't mean to take this thread down a different route but Patrick's comments about there not being enough Black managers in the League does make me question whether there is the talent there to warrant an increase in numbers. Is there anybody who has 'done well'?

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

If it is about his Coaching staff then why didn't we get rid of them and tell him to find others?
Simon Jordan alluded to poor coaching and training this morning so there is some traction on the theory.
I think it was time - regardless of what happens to us now.
He has looked lost and devoid of ideas - so either Dougie in the interim or get Hodgson back until the end of the season!
Never thought I would hear myself say that!

One thing I have wondered about is the fact that we have, by design or chance, a team with a high percentage of French speaking players of West African parentage and though PV is himself from that background it appears that he couldn't communicate his ideas to the players, resulting in a stream of poor results. I see the potential in some of the players, not all mind you, and I think whoever takes over will have to kick some arse to get this group organised and running.

More 0-0 results from Roy will not keep us up. Please keep him away from our players. Dougie or Paddy or Derry temporarily no issue. We need some motivators with Palace at heart to see us through this.

The player response will be interesting to see.
