If, as seems probable, we lose to Brighton and Arsenal, that will be five points from a possible thirty six. Not to sack the manager, in that case, would be a remarkable, and unusual, and probably fatal, expression of faith.

If we do go down: there's no evidence that Vieira's good enough to bring us back up and our squad will not magically improve in the Championship.

Should we be relegated with Vieira at the helm I very much doubt he will be in charge for the Championship campaign.

If, as expected, Vieira is in charge for the Leicester game, we are still on 27 pts and we are being defeated by the 'Foxes', I suspect the atmosphere in Selhurst Park will become rather toxic.

Guys got to keep it real here..

We just lost/dipped out 1-0 through a silly penalty to IMO the best club side in the World.

Has anyone just seen what Arsenal have done to Fulham - and Fulham have had a decent season - that is the gulf in class. From Arsenal's perspective because they kept faith with Arteta - when at times like us ATM things looked bleak..!!

As I said if we keep some consistency/stability in terms of selection and get our best players on the pitch for the remainder of the season, given our remaining fixtures and the comparative quality of our squad to those around us we will be fine..!!

Some on here letting emotions/irrationality run away with them..!!

Get a grip we are 12th and we need 4 wins from our last 12 games to be comparatively safe - with 8 of those games being against teams currently below us..!!

If we can't do that we have only ourselves to blame/and aren't good enough to be in the Division..!!

Bottom line is that it's in our hands/and we have by far the easiest run in of any of those around/below us..!!

Yes it's tough and dark ATM but I'm confident keep with it/PV and the perseverance, faith and pain we are currently suffering will pay dividends come the end of the season and looking/moving into the future..!!

Those carping on about sacking Viera - who else is out there/do you suggest/you going to replace him with..??

IMO keep the faith and we will be fine and we'll look back at this point in time and realise the pain was worth it..!!

30 goals in 38 games, sounds familiar.

I’d replace him with anyone who can instill some confidence and desire and get the best out of the undoubted talent we have. PV has failed to work out his best team and still chops and changes with unusual formations, tactics and poor substitutions. He looks lost and there is no indication that he can change it round. If anything we have got worse as the season has progressed which is a sign of managerial failings.

On what planet have you been on since the World Cup ?
We have an appalling record since then, cannot score or even have any shots on target !
Absolutely nothing to suggest we will win any of the upcoming games even though they are against teams below us.
5 of the 8 games against the teams are indeed at home, but the last home win was pre-World Cup.
Keeping the faith and consistency/stability in team selection will certainly see us go down in what would be one of the most avoidable relegations in our history.
PV has taken this squad, which is certainly not one of the worst we have ever had in the top flight, so far backwards it is almost not true and the teams to play us will not see too many demons in that prospect.

Nope. He needs to be judged at the end of the season. The board have not backed him so changing the manager will make no difference. After the arse game we have a series of winnable games.

I dont get, this not being backed nonsense. Since he has been here £120m has been spent on players, more than any other manager in Palace history. Maybe we havent spent as much as Chelsea, but he has been backed.

Not sure what all the "flag Plaistow Eagle" as a friend bit at the beginning is all about, not seen this before - Mods..??

In answer to your question - Since the World Cup I've been watching Palace among a very difficult run of fixtures - where at times we've acquitted ourselves very well and unless you've overlooked it we are still 12th - you..??

So if you're not happy with consistency/stability in terms of selection/getting our best players on the pitch together - what exactly is your suggestion..??

Look - I ain't in either the "Viera in" or "Viera out" camp - all I'm interested in is giving ourselves the best chance to stay in the Division given the rather fortuitous position we are in with our remaining fixtures..!!

But this cry to sack Viera and replace him this Manager that is going to miraculously going to make things so much better - who exactly is this "mythical/magical" person - that's my question..??

Look if he's out there - then great lets go get him - I'm all for it - but exactly who is he/she..??

Just a question..!!

What I've noticed in recent games is that we have by-passed midfield more and have kicked the ball longer.
I've no problem with getting the ball forward quicker and playing more directly as long as the team is set up to play this way.
However, an unsupported Wilf left in isolation, I would contend, is not the right set up if you're going to play this way.
Wilf is no target man.
It's a baffling tactic as it means we continually give possession away or hit aimless passes with little hope of building attacking moves or creating forward momentum.
