It's all well and good to sell him for a large fee, but it's not worth it unless we use the money extremely quickly to plug the glaring gaps in our squad. I don't think we have time now. I'm expecting one cheap, young winger in on the final day - that's it. And basically only because Olise is going. Plus an U23s goalie on a free to make it look like we are competent.

"The Eagles are thought to value Doucoure at around £70million. Palace will point to the fees paid for midfielders already this summer, with Chelsea set to splash out £58m for Lavia." Dom Smith: Evening Standard. All the social media chatter and NewsNow clickbait are referencing this article, which is mostly an opinion piece, lots of conjecture, take with a pinch of salt. I suspect SP may accept a bid somewhere between those two numbers, ONLY if he can line up a reasonable replacement. £60m for Doucoure plus 35m = £95m, £20m more than our entire summer spend for PV first season. However, with no other release clauses, SP holds all the cards and despite what rival fans claim we DON'T have to sell anyone, heck look at sulky Guaita, we haven't panic sold him yet.
I am not a bot. No, seriously, I'm not. |

This is one that SP needs to tell Liverpool - do it now or wait until January as we need time to replace him.

I would hope we can keep him because he just commands his position and can only get better; however, Lerma's stats are more impressive on Sofascore, as are Rice and top midfielders such as Casemiro. All of that to say he is important for us, but for the right price we could probably find a replacement and still have money in the bank. Timing is terrible though and I can't see Parish getting another public poke in the eye, as the Olise release clause might have been the only choice at the time, but the optics look bad right now. Mcallister only went for 35M plus add ons (another release clause), so maybe Parish can redress the Olise situation as Brighton did with Caicedo. Difference is they have a robust talent pipeline and we don't!

The press are all over this so I suspect there is some truth in it. Given the relative position of the two clubs I can see signing for Liverpool would be an attractive propositions and if he wants to go there is probably little point in stopping him. I would always want players at the club who want to be here. Also look at where we are right now. We lost our manager mid season and clearly struggled to replace him so we bring a former manager out of retirement to take over for a bit. We then give him a job for another year, kicking the can down the road for a bit. We are losing our best players and so probably don't look the best of prospects if you have options.

With Olise signing up he might feel that staying with us isn't such a bad thing after all.

Not sure about that. The Olise saga shows that the press no the square route of F all.

Brighton put a price tag of 100 mill for Cacaido and did stick to it. We should do same with our brilliant midfielder from Mali. You want him, pay our asking price or sod off!

There is hardly any difference in quality between Doucoure and Caciedo. If anything we have a right to ask more. After all Caciedo cost Brighton only £4m only 2 years ago. Doucoure cost us £18m. Lets not forget Liverpool stiffed us on Benteke and Sakho. Its about time they had a taste of their own medicine.

Was just reading Liverpool have now switched their attentions to Parlhinha who they believe can be theirs for £52m. Good luck with that then!

We dont need to sell, I doubt Parish will do business, after the Benteke and Sakho deals. A new contract for Olise is a statement to other clubs.
