Two different approaches: "You're a bunch of useless lazy cnuts, call that a performance, try playing for the badge with a bit of pride once in a while, cnuts." "Well done lads, didn't quite come off today, but we get to go again on the training ground next week. There's a few things I'd like to put into practice that should bode well for the future."

If you are not happy with your level of responsibility or the direction the manager is taking you discuss with him in private. If you are still not happy I'm afraid you should leave as the boss always gets his way. If this row was in public then he loses straight away even if what he said was right.
