To lose to side as poor as Forest is inexcusable, our lack of professionalism is breathtaking sometimes….

Bad day at the office. Woeful performance. When the penalty was missed the writing was on the wall - always seems to happen. Lots of mistimed passes, poor control, sloppy in possession. Zaha & Ayew non existent, Olise not allowed to cut inside which completely nullified his threat - I fear he might be a one trick pony (good trick though). Eze huffed and puffed but got nowhere. Mitchell looked like he was playing with an injury from the start and Guaita, I’ve noticed in recent weeks, has terrible distribution - awful with the ball at this feet/kicking which is now a prerequisite of a PL keeper. Haven’t read the thread but the offside VAR was baffling. On the TV, the replay shown was from an angle and the line therefore not parallel with the 18 yard box. I’m utterly convinced he was a foot offside - haven’t seen anything to convince me otherwise. I’m interested to hear what PV thinks about it. Anyway, it doesn’t matter as we deserved to lose. Forest were poor too but were at least up for it.

But, it is the lack of service. We don’t get the ball quick enough to these players you mentioned. How many times do you see us playing it across the back into the player just in front of the back four and then back again. It give’s organised times time to re group. Forrest are poor but they are organised / balanced. We on the other hand aren’t and play into the opponents hands. It needs a couple of strong midfielders taking the ball forward quickly and passing to those players you mentioned quicker. It’s not rocket science ;-) We lost most if not all of the 50/50s often leaving our players sprawled on the pitch, we are at present only able to play when teams allow us space to do so and against teams like today we can always appear pretty hopeless. We are a very lightweight Arsenal.

I think that's at least 3 goals now this season where he has palmed the ball straight out for an attacker to tap it in.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Toward the end of Wenger's reign he had so many samey players trying the fancy walk the ball in stuff that they were entirely predictable and lightweight.

That's us, but we need to give Vieira a lot of time which sadly cost Wenger because due his huge success they couldn't afford to wait.

On my way home from the game. Sh*t match, awful train travel and to be honest the team that wanted to win...won deservedly so.Thank goodness we've got a break until Boxing Day and looking forward to the January window.

Today was an absolutely shocking performance playing a really bad Forest side. I struggle to know what to make of our start to the year because we have had so many poor performances but then again every single team seems to be struggling for consistency bar the top 3. We are currently 2 points behind Chelsea and 3 behind Liverpool, all the while a lot of the teams below us have spent mega money recently. If you ask me am I happy with our performances as a whole so far I would say I am reasonably happy but considering our current squad I am definitely happy with our league position. We have a very unbalanced squad in need of reinforcements. We are no where near ready for a European place push, so for me I would like to see some new players in January and a few more in the summer then next season we have got to be pushing for Europe. This season is all about building and some progress. Edited by EddieMac (12 Nov 2022 9.28pm)

I have to say my aspirations have pushed beyond just survival but of course hope that we still do achieve that at the very least. The next step really is to look at Europe however you are completely right in what you say and I hadn’t really considered the detriment that could have. Was a long ol’ journey but going out the Man City cup on Wednesday might not be the worst thing either. We really need to sure up our starting XI let alone the rest of the squad. We also need the instillation of some bo!!ocks in the side too - it may seem a juvenile statement but we can’t just melt every away game and occasionally look like the proverbial boys versus men at home. It’s pretty unanimous that we need to improve the squad however I am not confident in that happening to any great extent let alone at all. We’ll be lucky to sign more than one player in the next window and that won’t be any addition to the first team I’m quite sure of that. Things are better at the moment in context to seasons past but today brought home the stark reality. Any perceived success thus far is extremely fragile and the possibility of it all going Pete Tong is far more likely than any further progress sadly. We need further investment in the playing staff desperately however I fear the reality is we will not see that and it quite simply is not there.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
