'Diversity' in advertising

Let's put some real diversity into.... - cookery programmes - business programs - sports commentary - environmentalism - documentaries about fertility & choices therein. - Car Adverts etc etc Lets put some straight white men (from any non-lefty) background onto the telly ?

It seems that even pet adverts are going woke and ticking boxes now! Just saw an advert for tails.com and not only did they make sure that they had all different colour dogs but also included a disabled 3 legged dog. They're probably pulling their hair out that they didn't manage to get 2 male dogs to share a kiss too!

Amazon Prime keeps showing a Timberland advert on Freevee. I have no idea who buys their shoes but it is almost exclusively an advert with lots of black people. Now if that is the core customer base then fair enough. If not then who are they trying to advertise to? If you are advertising a millionaire country lifestyle you probably wouldn't use the Daily Mirror but more likely "Country Life"?

I said to my other half the other day that with this new advertising drive that seems to be nearly exclusively towards non white or straight people that if sales in these companies have had a positive upturn or a negative downturn.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
