Really don't understand buying to loan out, does it ever work? If he's not in our plans we shouldn't have bought him.

Am I the only one thinking this is yet another young player we’re eulogising about until he becomes another league one stalwart in years to come? There’s been plenty down the years and I of course sincerely hope not but there’ll be no breath holding from me!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

One difference would be that Eze, Guehi, Olise were top Championship players already. Plange perhaps one more year.

It does make me despair, whenever the likes of Brentford sell a player they plucked as a youngster for multimillions people on here bemoan that we do not cherry pick these sorts of players before they become 10mill plus players. Then, when we do, people bemoan why we are signing a player who isn't likely to play for us in the next season. The reality is we bought a player for 1 million, which is very little in todays market. (A league two side paid 1.5 mill for a player in 2009!). He came from Derby a club in real financial trouble and they were in no position to turn down any sort of offer so we probably got him for a lot less than we should have. It's speculative by the club, an investment that they have weighed up risk v reward and decided to take a punt. he will need to be nurtured and grown to fulfil the potential the club see in him, and this is best done by him getting regular football somewhere. He may turn out to be the next Harry Kane or the next Kwesi Appiah. Only time will tell but have a bit of trust the club knows what it is doing and worth the gamble. It was Banbury Cross. I think that probably is in Coventry these days.

Edited by Mwncisee (03 Jun 2022 9.07am) Indeed, Derby's position opened up the opportunity to grab a young raw talent for the same price as a couple of months of Benteke's salary. No, he's not at Eze's level, but he cost a mil. Its a gamble, but a calculated one, if it doesn't pay off, he's not broken the bank. Lets also remember Eze got released by Arsenal, Fulham and Milwall.

Indeed it was. Another failed humour attempt by me! Banbury is a different lady: "Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross, Hence the 'Fine Lady' bakery based in Banbury.
