Unfortunately, there were a few on here (and you know who you are) who were less than kind to Willo in their remarks. He tolerated it for a while in the spirit of jovial banter, but it became too much so he decided to pull the plug.

I have been in contact with him a couple of times since he 'retired' and the following is an extract from his note to me last Friday.

Gone are the days when this cherished site played a somewhat prominent part in my life as I spent many an hour partaking in discussions – HOL addiction!

I am humbled and honoured to be informed that some still view me in a positive light but of course there are those who viewed me as a varmint, a scrivening dullard, a cure for insomnia, and could not warm to me if I was cremated by their side.I am certainly not their cup of Darjeeling!

So, there you have it. It's unlikely he'll return to the fray.

Take note, those of you who enjoy winding folk up.

That’s a shame. Glad to know he’s doing alright.

Even when flouncing, the great man retained his dignity.

Enjoy your life free of Hol addiction Willo. I’m sure it’s more interesting out there.

He does. He’s the Leslie Phillips to everyone else’s Sid James and Bernard Bresslaw. Not forgetting the occasional Kenneth Williams and Kenneth Connor. Becky must be Barbara Windsor.

Hmmmmm.... probably more Hattie Jacques these days

I enjoyed willo's posts & always thought it was a bit creepy that people would constantly go after him.
Sadly cancel culture is a sign of the times.

He did come across like as a friendly, benign, chap. Politically active but as much in a social way as anything. It did always seem a bit strange that he got so much stick.

Leslie Phillips was refined, but you can't beat a good Sid James laugh :-D

It did cross my mind that Willos retirement from here has come when the government are an unprecedented shocking ,shambolic ,shambles, and even their most ardent supporter might be a tad embarrassed at their efforts, leading the country down the pan!Anyone can see, whoever takes charge sooner than later, can only go up, even another Conservative. I for one have no axe to grind with Willo, and predict that when this rabble are found out, and cleaned out- and some form of normal politics resumes, without the lying and thieving, cronyism and rule breaking, Willow will be back, praising his beloved blues, but for now, enjoy your retirement! We are all Palace on here after all!

I for one approve of this proposition to swap him with Warwick Davis.

Ha, saw that as was posting but couldn"t be bothered to correct it, but, I was probably picturing what willo is up to in his retirement,(or to deflect from watching the news), and watching the cricket is a good bet-(see what I did there?).

Hope not mate, Willo could have died of starvation or hypothermia the way things are going over here!
