yet again, working people are being hit hardest. There might be some crumbs of comfort if Social Care was going to operate as it was intended to. Even screwing the working person, is inevitably going to lead to a sharp decline in social services as the rich get richer. I hope you aren"t jealous of the chancellor having £2 billion in his personal account, that might sound a lot but he has a family to take care of! That PPE money that they all shared out,£14 billion, wont go far with big houses to maintain and horses to keep! We are all in this together, I wish people would leave the upper classes alone, they work hard and deserve to get away with a bit of public money- its a right of passage!

It is not the fault of immigrants, you silly boy, it is the fault of politicians. You cannot escape the fundamental causes no matter how much you or so called intellectuals try to dress it up. In that case how do you feel about non-UK residents being allowed to buy UK residential property and not living in it? Or buy-to-let landlords allowed to have large property portfolios that reduce the supply available for others to purchase and actually live in it?

I agree with you and this is very much a problem that needed to be solved. My nan is, and grandad was until he died recently, in a care home for the last few years so well aware of how crazily expensive it is. I have no problem per se with the increase if it is being ring fenced; however I would have liked to have seen a different mechanism used to raise the funds in the early years - whether through a higher rate of income tax for higher earners, increasing CGT to be in line with income tax, or some sort of wealth tax (even though difficult in practice to do). Bloody Imigrants, getting educated abroad at someone else's expense, then coming here, paying taxes, before f***ing back of f overseas to retire where its cheaper and they don't cause a tax burden. The cheek of it. Perhaps we could export our old people to warmer climates where houses and labour are cheap? Still, it's almost a relief that politicians are no longer talking about either Brexit or Covid.

Unless they robbed a bank before they went. Until recently anyway. Ireland's drugs gangs went there. One got arrested the other day. Something like ten years later. It probably came as a bit of a shock.

I am not denying immigration is a factor - it increases demand. The birth/death rate also has to be factored into these numbers though when you are considering the population and local demand. ‘Since 2012, house prices have risen faster than inflation – despite a relatively weak economy. This is partly due to an ongoing shortage of supply and rising population.’ Partly? What are the net increases in population due to migration and what are the new home building figures? I’m curious as to where on the list immigration comes as a factor. House prices 9 times salary in London is mental.

So a rise in NI contributions will prevent the elderly and long-term sick from having to sell their homes to pay for care ?
I disengage, I turn the page. |

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

How many properties does this account for? The vast majority in zones 1 and 2, and increasing by the day in zones 3-6. Most new developments in zones 1 and 2 are only advertised in Asia.
