It started dying 60 years ago when you weren’t even alive did it? You cling to a dream you never even knew was real. Because it never was real. This country 60/70 years ago when it was rebuilding from a Second World War and took on people from all over the commonwealth to help rebuild it. Yet you would rather they never came here. Talk about progressive bingo. I don't really feel the need to repeat my positions from your poor understandings of them.....listening to your summary is like listening to a badly scratched muffled 45...where there is about 30 percent of the actual recording left. Your understanding here amounts to about that....but hey I'll do a little bit just to keep the keyboard warm. The Commonwealth? Look, every collection of people will have good people within it, but that doesn't mean they have a right to these islands. As for this delusional argument that these people were somehow needed to rebuild Britain after the war.....you don't seriously believe that line do you? Have you actually thought about that or is it just something you repeat without thinking. Japan's cities and infrastructure were destroyed much much much worse than the UK, Germany itself was flattened and countless died 45-47, yet both rebuilt without these child-like lies. After rebuilding and then leading Europe economically Germany has let self hate from its chattering classes rot itself from within. However, Japan stands as a firm rebuttal to this 'we needed foreigners' line. The truth is of what actually happened and why it happened....well, that's something else. Edited by Stirlingsays (10 Sep 2021 9.46pm) Again you go on about Japan, a country you have never been to. Germany struggled but came to terms with its past, rebuilt and was all the stronger for it. Britain shies away from coming to terms with it, pretends it was all great and the fact everyone speaks English is why people want to come here - something only possible because of the empire. Then people like you feel like you’re a superior human being just for having the sheer good luck of being born here.

Not so pv, in the 50"s it was people, plenty of men and women, my own folks came over from Ireland, lots of the females trained as nurses, blokes went in the building game. The west indian ladies also trained as nurses, and the blokes in London went on the underground or on the railways.

Nearly everything you say about this is wrong. If you are ignorant of the facts it is better not to procame it. The idea that Germany was rebuilt without immigration is totally false. Around 20% of the population have an immigrant background. Millions of people have come to Germany in the post-war period. The top ten countries of origin are Turkey, Poland, Syria Romania, Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece, Afghanistan and Serbia. Although Japan has had far less immigration than Germany there are large groups of Korean, Chinese, Nepali and ethnic Japanese from South America. In 2018 over 100,000 immigrants to Japan and the trend is upward. The falling birth rate over the past 30 years has resulted in a desperate shortage of labour. Without this immigration, the economy would collapse. Most low paid shop work in big cities is now taken by Chinese, Philippine, Indian and other Southeast Asian workers. More convenient half truths and lies. Those who rebuilt Germany were not immigrants from non European countries in any significant numbers. You are lying or repeating lies through ignorance. The vast majority of those who rebuilt Germany were Germans via American money and that's just a reality. West Germany was largely rebuilt by 1953. As for Japan.....your argumentation isn't even related to the post war topic....which on its very own destroys the 'we needed foreigners' argument. As for what you actually wrote, it was as disingenuous as your Germany commentary..... Even if the 100, 000 immigrants figure is accurate it's nothing. Japan is a country of 126 million....which is pretty much high 90s Japanese. Also, most of the non East Asian immigration are on short stay worker visas and so won't be staying and that's been stated.....something else you seem to be ok with omitting. Their PM has also stated that Japan isn't going down the western route.....Even if the immigration route is accepted, it'll be from their region and not the 'global village' madness that Europe has had forced upon it. Net immigration to Japan has also been falling since 2018...something else you omitted.and when you look at the numbers as a national percent it also completely blows out your 'the economy would be ruined' nonsense. He decides his conclusion and then cherry picks and shoehorns his ‘facts’ and ‘statistics’ in to fit his preordained conclusion. It’s a masterclass in selective analysis. For someone who used to be a teacher it’s an insane approach to try to argue a point. If I ever handed in a piece of coursework like it then it would be quite rightly sent back ungraded.
