I've said on here a few times now, that as much as I was a big fan, his days are numbered. He's definitely improved since PV has worked on him, but if Newcastle really are interested, then we should get as much money as we can for him and use it wisely to buy new, young talent. Preferably Gallagher. Surely this is just agent and media speculation at the moment as the new owners have hardly got their feet under the table yet

Financially a move to Newcastle could benefit Palace and Wilf. Palace could reasonably expect Newcastle to meet their valuation and Wilf gets probably his last chance of a big transfer related pay day. From a footballing perspective I'm not sure it ticks Wilf's boxes. It's going to take a while for Newcastle to get the right infrastructure in place and if Champions League football is his ambition I can't see that happening for at least 2-3 years.

Its quicker than we'll be able to give it to him! And he's put himself in the shop window for the last couple of years and nobody has been interested. This could genuinely be his only shot at a higher level of football

But he has said he wants to leave to play in CL football - even with all the money behind them, there are no guarantees that Newcastle will get there anytime soon. The move that Wilf wanted was to Arsenal when they were qualifying for the CL . He could be in his early 30's before Newcastle are in that position.

With the money available to them and the 'big name' manager they will no doubt be bringing in,I am sure they will be looking much higher up the food chain than Wilf. Their next appointment will likely be facing relegation and the possibility of 'bouncing back' next season. Not sure that is something that will appeal to Wilf, or indeed Gallagher. Lazy journalism until a manager is appointed I am afraid.

I seriously think Newcastle will be relegated this year, So more Championship than Champions League

I don't think anyone is saying they will go after Wilf, only that he might be the type of player they will look at. All the talk of Icardi, Mbappe and Sterling seems like pie in the sky given they are in the bottom three at present, whereas buying one of the best attacking players outside the big four (Liverpool, Man City & United and Chelsea) may seem a more realistic option, especially as Wilf has experience of battling it out at the wrong end of the table. What I do find irksome is seeing some NFC fans talking as if they are already too good for him. It'll be interesting to see if the other 19 PL clubs decide to club together and add a Toon Tax in January given their dissatisfaction with the whole deal

as others have said, this is our last chance to get a big payout for Wilf. He's had his best years for us (although I do think that he could improve under Vieira), however with the sort of players we're bringing into the team, and the new manager's philosophy, we could invest in new talent that can be a part of the club for longer and/or have bigger potential sell-on money. And ultimately Wilf will find out if he can make a difference at a club other than Palace.

But looking at how Man C did it, they only bought 1 stella player in the first window and a bunch of decent players. Window after window they bought more and bigger upgrades as the performances followed. So I do think Wilf fits the profile of who they would go after. Only time will tell eh!

No other CL teams have or are going to show an interest in him now. (Unless he stuck it out with us and became an attractive free transfer at 30). I genuinely think he'd take it if offered, because if they replicate city, within 12 months that team will have 100's of million of pounds spent on it. They will be coming into this with a intended road map (CL in 3 years, league title in 5 etc)
