Not really Nicky - maybe i should have said the Palace Academy rather than Palace. Look at all the players we've bought through over the last 10 years and continue to do so. Moses, Zaha, AWB etc. All black and either 1st or 2nd generation immigrants. It's just a fact. That wasn't my point. To say it's what 'we stand for' is indeed, a strange comment. The fact that in what, a fifteen year time frame we've had three players of note come through the academy of somewhat similar heritage is nothing more than the circumstance it is. There would be something very unnerving about a club specifically targeting youngsters of certain backgrounds, let alone making it an 'ethos' of sorts. That doesn't sit well for both footballing and social reasons.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

He's playing Premier League football to a good standard at the age of 21. He hits a homegrown quota. Even 5 years from now, he still won't be in his prime so will have an even greater resale value. All of the above makes him far, far, far more valuable to a Premier League side than a 21 year old of the same ability currently in La Liga. I think £60m would be cheap. I can't see Guehi wanting to go yet. He needs to playing every week to make the World Cup squad and we guarantee that. Plus, those offers will still be there next year when he is in an even stronger position. Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Tottenham...perhaps even Liverpool and City would all be in that queue. It sounds like Levi Colwill would be the factory line replacement if Guehi were to move. Given he is 19, he and we could both do with another year of development first.

I see he is being linked with Spurs this morning , If Harry Maguire is worth 80 million then surley MG is worth more than that .

Man City and Newcastle definitely but Spurs will simply not offer the money we want. Daniel Levy will offer 2 old bob and a youth player and then complain to the press that Palace are holding him to ransom.

He has to be that in that £50m+ bracket - he's as good as any young centre-back in the country, is English, seems to be a model professional and thoroughly decent bloke. I think we'll be fine this summer - he'll have the World Cup firmly on his radar and can't imagine him wanting to take a risk with a move.

The fact that he is in the England squad means that playing for our club is not holding him back from his international dreams. He will stay. End of

See there's the problem, Macuire isn't and never was worth 80m. and certainly not to Daniel 'where's me wallet gone' Levy. ManU paid it because they needed a defender badly, and more importantly...They're imbeciles. To me, Guehi is worth around the 40-50M mark in the current climate, but to us he's worth a damn sight more. one things for sure, Levy aint gonna be spending 80M+ on him.

Good young players are where the really big money is at, not when 26. We have to recognise that making huge markups is a very good thing if the scouting network is up to snuff. If we upgrade in the round, we win.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
