My brother in law is his person pilot, says he’s a big footy fan and was looking to buy a club. He’s a Newcastle fan and hopes he will buy them, I think the guy is a Chelsea fan but could be wrong.

Don,t really understand why this thread is generally reflecting a negativity towards the idea of having Viera, as manager, without going to deeply into his record, he has been largely successful. Man,City, successful, NY,City, successful, Nice, 90% successful. I say 90% because we know something went wrong in the end.
But what did go wrong? IMHO, his success in getting a fifth place in the league, leading to a place in Europe, is what went wrong. As with fringe clubs all around Europe, that place in Europe, was a step to far far for the club, as I believe it would be for Palace ,if it happened.
My point being that he may well have been nothing more than a victim of his own success. It’s a common, problem in football management. Clubs that want Europe, but can’t really afford the maintenance of a squad capable of being successful in that competition and still remain competitive in their home league.

I agree with your sentiments and think he could turn out to be a very good appointment although there will certainly be immediate challenges vis a vis the depth of the squad.
I guess what has left some a bit underwhelmed is that he was available all along and so clearly he was not the no 1 choice. However, personally, I think what has subsequently emerged around Nuno indicates Parish was 100% correct to walk away. Equally, the Fevre situation was just unfortunate and could hardly be foreseen.
What will be interesting is who Viera brings in with him on the coaching side and his approach to transfers. Exciting times ahead I hope.

Back in the later days of Jim Cannon it was almost nailed on that he would be made a coach and eventually the manager. Then Steve Coppell injured his knee and was made manager and Jim left the club (had a testimonial I believe) and that was that. The point being that no-one was really sure as to whether Steve would make it (we didn't have twitter etc).

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

I'm fine with Vieira as I posted earlier, but am I the only person who has a teeny, tiny bit of hope that he turns us down at the eleventh hour purely for the comedy value of it all? I mean, spurned on the altar three times in a month; it would be sort of funny and definitely the most memorable hat-trick in Palace history. In fact, it would simply be the most Palace thing ever to happen to Palace. Parish has the look of a man who's better at sniffing a line than getting something over one.

Coaching in the French League 1 is in no way comparable to managing in the Premier League

Instead of a big '6 ' they have a big one PSG

Lille did well this season but mainly as a result of the inconsistency of PSG

I hope Vieira is good ,but managing in the MLS with its' weird rules on spending and crowd sizes and managing in the French Ligue 1 aren't comparable to the Premier League

I hope PV is a success but I am doubtful.

On the plus side if he is then it will be a feather in his cap and black mark against those so called better managers who turned us down.

Fingers crossed. COYP

He's a Manure fan, tried to buy Chelski but Ambromwich wanted twice his offer, as Manure was not for sale at that time. Now it might be different..
