Glad to hear it Ted, best not reveal where or you might have a surge of anti Croydon hol"ers clogging up your retreat! My Bournemouth point should have said it also has a terrible drug problem, Boscombe had/has the most drug rehabilitation places in the country, and its only a small place.Don"t get me wrong, the heath is as rough as any urban area in London, but it2s urban- theres the rub! Other parts of the borough are nicer and as safe as anywhere, I walk through the different dealers gangs in West Croydon every day and they never bother with me, don"t even try and push their wares my way, lots of these stabbings in urban areas are drug/youth related, bit like our youth days going to football. I can see these problems spreading thou, as i previously said, look at Coulsdon, that used to be posh back in the day, Caterham to has undesirable parts. Now east Grinstead is getting rough as fcuk, keep your bolthole to yourself Ted if you want to keep it that way. We’ve also got a squirrel out the back who looks a bit dubious . It’s like south Central out there but us lads from the Smoke can handle it.

I CONcur, Croydon is as safe as any urban area with a large population, you are absolutely right dan, I am in town 6 days a week, walking about all areas, even the London road to the heath on a Saturday, passing the different groups either side grafting, they never bother me, if you mind your own business, and are over 23, not looking for trouble, you will be fine dan. On the other hand, the stabbing in Coulsdon yesterday might be a different story.Chiselhurst had 2 stabbings Friday night, not sure what happened there either, Wandsworth had 4 Friday, probably gang related I imagine, if anyone doesn"t feel safe in Croydon, may i suggest they don"t come? simples. Your truly unbelievable. So croydon is safe if your over 23! Try telling the family members of the dead, injured and live under the threat of gangs. Your so nieve and live in your own bubble.

Thanks for the Caterham update Rudi, i have family in chaldon end and few pals in caterham, and family and pals in coulsdon, my point isn"t against any of these places, just saying that these stabbing things are spreading and obviously the urban towns will be more lively. Not sure why they are fleeing to east grinstead, apart from taking a very sexy lady in to the woods there on a few occasions in my taxi, and visiting that hospital that specialises in burns, i don"t know to much about it, apart from the big scientology hq and that lots of rascals from west croydon seem to be moving there- and redhill!

"If anyone doesn't feel safe in Croydon, don't come". That's already happening. Businesses aren't investing, my old company really struggled to recruit in Croydon. That's created a downward spiral. Huge offices have moved away. That's had a knock on affect on the retail and catering sectors. Which leaves the town centre unattractive and makes it harder to recruit. It generally seems that working in Croydon had all the drawbacks of working in Central London but none of the benefits. Most people I know from school have moved away. What seems like day to day incidents in Croydon just doesn't happen in other places. Croydon used to have a buzz about it, now it's just dead. A colleague remarked that the Allders Mall seemed like being in Romania it was that run down. Crime was out of control before the 2011 riots. That seemed to be the nail in the coffin. Such a shame.

Shame indeed, although it has some great new skyscrapers going up and just completed, the skyline is great, from afar its like nyc on a night, and will only continue getting better, although this has had a knock on effect on property prices, its not cheap unfortunately. Have to agree with you, allders going was a real draw back, you could just wander around there for half hour if you had time to kill, we once sent a firm of Brighton looking for trouble through the china dept on the ground floor back in the day, they even got collared by the security and feds, just a memory! Allders and debenhams going is not great, but allders especially really hit the town, thank god for primark and m an s! It still safe to shop thou, and thats my point, if you go buying weed in the heath at night and get mugged more fool you!

Not something i get from shops elsewhere. Edited by PalazioVecchio (07 Feb 2021 6.34pm)

Never said it was lovely dan, just urban, and theres the rub, its not the best part of Croydon, glad i don"t live that end, but its nowhere different than Islington, kilburn, even parts of Chelsea are rough as fcuk, worlds end estate ? Pimlico off lupus st is right next to dolphin square where mps and royalty live, but that estates rough as fcuk next door. Its all hypothetical thou, parts of Croydon are rough-so are parts of Kensington, and parts of Chelsea, but its safe as anywhere in the day to go shopping-if any shops are left after this pandemic and amason.
